Could I use this to distill nitric acid

Yes. This is borosilicate glassware, so it can indeed handle nitric. However, it's a bad idea to use plastic clips, use metal ones instead. Also, you must seal the joints with concentrated sulfuric acid instead of grease, because nitric acid is a very powerful oxidizer.

What else do I need to purchase to make this work for my homeschool co-op (biochemist mom asking...)? Regular faucets will supply the water...
