Lithofin MN Slate Seal 1 Litre

I first used this about 6 years ago when we were having our bathroom re-modelled with black Chinese Slate tiles. The slate tiles are naturally porous and so need sealing. It took 2 or 3 applications to fully seal the tiles and they repelled water for 5 years or so. Not only does the product seal the tiles but brings out their natural colour with a low gloss sheen. This purchase was made to re-seal the tiles after 6 years of exposure in a shower cubicle. The textured tiles had started to hold limescale and were not so water repellant. I couldn't find it any more from my local tile stockist, and so once again, Amazon came to the rescue - with free postage too! After re-sealing, the tiles are back to their former glory. This product is best applied with a small foam roller but it can run and cause run marks or tears. Be sure to roll over your work or apply sparingly. The fumes are pretty bad, so use in a well ventilated room. Be warned it can damage some plastics, so wipe up ansy spills on your bath or shower tray immediately. I would recommed Lithofin's other products for maintenenace of tiled surfaces i.e Cement Away, Wexa and Easy Clean - they are quality German products and give the results required.

Very good product, quick to apply and has sealed my Welsh slate floor beautifully leaving it looking varnished but not massively glossy which is what I wanted - another coat could give a higher gloss I expect. Very fast delivery, even in lockdown. The only negative is the smell - to be expected, but overpowering solvent. My advice would be to pick a warm sunny day, open all your doors and windows and use it first thing in the morning so you have time for the solvent smell to dissipate. Wear a mask or cloth over your mouth and nose to reduce what you inhale. I used a roller on a long pole so my face wasn't close to the floor.

Put a slight shine on my slate tiles and really brought out the colour. Easy to use and dries quickly. Would buy again.

Bought to seal a slate floor in basement. Did a bit of research as didn't want to put something down that would look rubbish. Had cloudy looking slate. After mopping until water clean coming up I applied with a 2 inch brush in a thin coat. I went over with a short pile roller as was worried about brush marks. Touch dry in a couple of hours. Recoated after 24 hours and looks great. Floor has a low sheen like its drying from a mop but not quite as shiny. Very clean now not dusty. It is solvent based so has a smell to it but I left extractor fan on overnight and had pretty much cleared by morning. 48 hours later no smell.

Really easy to use, the cleaning off the old tiles was the worst part. Went on easily, touch dry in 2 hours I didn’t walk on it for 4 hours the finish was really good. The smell was strong and chemical but it went off after a couple of days.

Easy to use,at first I wondered if there would be enough to cover my Kitchen floor,but a little goes a long way & actually there's enough left for another coat but happy with the effect after just one ! I't's transformed my slate tiles,they looked dusty all the time & every splash on them seemed to soak in & really show up,but now they are a deeper colour with a slight sheen (just like when they've been washed & still wet) water sits on top now instead of soaking in & they are so much easier to clean too,as for the smell,at first it is quite strong but it doesn't linger for long,cleared within a couple of hours.I'm really pleased with the result !

This product is very good for sealing floor and shower tiles. One thing I would advise is to wear a mask and use it in dry weather so you open the windows & doors because it's very smelly

I purchased this product after reading reviews on it. I've got to say I'm very impressed with it. It was easy to apply a little went a long way. It has given my slate floor tiles a new lease of life, they look great. The smell is quite strong but bearable when the doors and windows were open. Didn't take too long to dry could walk on it after a few hours. highly recommend this product does what it says on the tin.
