The Laser Book: Laser Sailing From Start To Finish

Very much a general book about sailing rather than specifics on how to sail a laser. Disappointing.

Great book for beginners, intermediate and even experienced laser sailors will pick up something.

This book gives a good comprehensive overview of sailing lasers including rigging, skills and various tactics. It has excellent clear photographs with step by step instructions for many skills such as tacking and gybing. It is somewhat logically laid out to help readers to develop the myriad individual skills needed to master the laser.On the downside, it is a bit over the place with the level of information, explaining basics on one page, and using a lot of confusing jargon on the next. The lists of steps for various skills have way to many steps, and need to be broken down more. It would also be good to have a section on laser specific land exercises.Of the laser books that I can see on Amazon, this is the cheapest and very good value. It says that it gives the skills necessary to become a club champion. To do this, you would need to us this book as a constant companion for your training throughout your development. A big plus is that it is printed on very high quality paper and should stand up to the abuse that it should get from a few season's use.
