Yes, I use mine for a 50 kg dog with no problem. However, if your dog pulls constantly I doubt it will last for too long - the clip is not top quality.

Is this OK for a dobermann

I would think so as the dog will be on the end of the 'bungee' lead attached to the waist belt. I have seen huskies walked on these. Idea if you are a runner.

I don't think you could use this as a long lead, as there would be no handle. However, you could adapt it as I have by attaching a retractable lead or a long lead and the belt would give the security of hands free and it is also invaluable if you slipped while out for a walk because the dog's lead would still be attached.
