Works well, maybe a little more flexible than I was expecting. The only issue I have is that the lines can be a bit difficult to read in certain lighting which must be because of the "zero glare" coating. There is very minimal glare but you will find yourself trying to angle toward the light so you can actually read it. Overall, it is about as good as you can ask for, for the price it costed. There are no sharp edges like you will find on cheaper "Made In China" rules.

value versatile easy to accurately read for its size

I’ve been buying cheap, small rulers for years and never found one that was well-made. Either the measurements were off or they didn't start right at the edge. Recently, I learned about this ruler through Reddit. If you are looking to buy a small ruler, this is the one to get. It is extremely accurate and incredibly well-made. You can actually feel the quality when you hold it in your hand. I was surprised it's so affordable. I'd definitely like to get the longer versions in the future.

I think this is like the third or fourth time I've bought this exact item. It's just such a useful tool, I've gotten one for the sewing room, one for the leatherworking table, one for the computer desk, etc. I like buying Japanese tools, and Shinwa is a top name in the measuring business. The ruler is made from a sturdy piece of steel, thick enough so I'm not worried about bending it. Every 50 mm is marked in red, which just looks nice. One edge is marked in millimeters, and the other edge goes down to half millimeters—the first edge is easier to use day-to-day, but it's nice to have the other edge for precision when needed. Most importantly, the measuring starts from the edge of the ruler. If I had a dime for every time I've measured something with another ruler only to later notice that the "0" was like three millimeters from the end…well, I'd have like 50 cents, but really, all rulers should emulate this one and have the measuring start from the very end!

Hate the metric system but works great for checking bolt lengths

The MM side of the ruler is very well done. It was hard for me to remove from the Protective Plastic Sleeve. I ditched the Sleeve. The Conversion Side of the Ruler is badly smudged to makes it impossible to read. This may be an isolated incident. ???? This works for me. The MM ruler is there and reads well.
