Are these flat wound strings?

They are semi-round wound as they have a hexagonal steel core. I also found this information under the product description listed by Amazon. The strings are great sounding, very bright, and sounds even better plugged into an amp. Still has good tone after months of being stringed...

Is the fifth string a low 'B' and if so, how's the tension on it compared to the 'E' above - does it feel as tight?' Thanks.

No, it does not feel as tight. So long as you tune it to low B and you don't have any intonation or string height issues, you're good. Check this out. http://bassplaying.com/diy-bass-setup-guide

What does the actual string measure? I have a very long scale bass.

Yes, they will work on a acoustic-electric bass and they will sound though the pickups.

Will these work on an acoustic-electric bass? Will they produce sound through the pickups?

Yes, they will work on a acoustic-electric bass and they will sound though the pickups.
