HP Stream 14" Laptop: Lightweight, stylish and perfect for every day use!
I've been using the HP Stream 14" Laptop since November 2024, and I have to say, it’s a fantastic little device for the price! Right now, I’m actually writing this review on it, and it’s handling everything smoothly. One of the best things about this laptop is how lightweight and compact it is—perfect for carrying around. The battery life is impressive, lasting hours on a single charge, which means I don’t have to stress about finding an outlet during the day. It has a sleek, stylish design that looks great, and despite its budget-friendly price, it doesn’t feel cheap. Performance-wise, it zips along pretty quickly for everyday tasks like web browsing, streaming movies, and working on documents. While it’s not the fastest laptop out there, it works a treat for programs and apps that don’t demand too much memory. Overall, if you’re looking for a budget-friendly laptop that’s portable, reliable, and stylish, the HP Stream 14" is a solid choice. Pretty good value for money!

Cheap and neat, but only moderately nifty ...
Black Friday Amazon UK deal £129.99. Ordered early evening, arrived noon next day on free delivery. Impressive. This is a Windows 11 Home HP model with a black textured case. It includes a camera and sound-bar arrangement of the internal speakers along the top of the keyboard. Two USB A and one USB C, plus an SD card reader. Earpiece and mic socket is a combo connection, which means my separate ear phones and mic require the purchase of a splitter lead for £3.50. As there is no built in LAN connection, I also purchased a USB C adapter to run the laptop where wi-fi is too weak. So that's around £10.00 of extras. The contact pad is fine, but I prefer a mouse: £1.59 for a basic wired mouse on eBay. This is a thin and light HP unit. Think tablet more than laptop. The keyboard is positive and easy to type on. Celeron processor and 4 gb RAM produce an acceptable but not blistering speed for admin, movies, music, You Tube, and BBC iPlayer/Netflix. I'm not into gaming, so can't comment. Includes free Win 365 software access for a year and free McCaffe virus protection. I ditched both in the interest of speed. Set up was ok and gave the option of using previous browser settings. I prefer to start afresh - a good ruse to ditch the junk from the previous laptop! There is a lot of pressure to adopt Windows/MicroSoft settings, including their Edge Browser. Be persistent and you can down load your preferred alternatives. eg Chrome browser and set these as the default. Linking WhatsApp and Spotify to existing accounts was easy using a mobile to scan the QR code on the HP screen. Battery life seems fine - about 3 hours of constant use. The included power adapter is a bit 1980's being aesthetically a black brick with UK mains plug and basic plug into the laptop: fairly useful cable length. Screen clean and bright, easily adjustable via Settings or rather oddly the bottom right of screen sliders which offer brightness and volume. Just as laptops make desktop PCs seem over-sized, this HP unit makes existing laptops appear overweight!

Not disappointed, its a great little machine for basic everyday stuff.
After reading the reviews I was a bit sceptical about buying this laptop. However, for the price and what I want it for (programming fire alarms and basic report writing) it was a risk worth taking. I am not at all disappointed! Its a great little machine. Lightweight, good screen and its fairly nippy with regards performance. Yeah its not for gaming or HD video streaming on multiple windows but if you are realistic with your expectations for a £150 laptop you wont be disappointed. My only recommendation would be to go for the 128GB version as the 64GB soon fills up. However, there is a full size SD card slot and I have added a cheap 128GB card for storage and it works great. Laptop has bluetooth too which is a good feature if you want to add a mouse etc. although the touch pad is fine. Its lightweight and has that HP build feel so its sturdy and has a nice textured finish. I travel the country and wanted a small, lightweight model to fit in a small bag and it ticks the box. Windows 11 seems to run fine with minimal lag. I have turned off the "s" mode as I don't want to be locked to using just Microsoft apps. It has two full sized USB ports and a C type too. There's an HDMI connector too which I use with my projector and that works great. All in all, great little laptop for basic stuff.

Great for entry level and semi experienced users
Excellent just as expected from HP first experience with Window 11 home edition, so still getting head round whole functionality of unit and system. Unfortunately not a lighted keyboard but that was my own error, very easy to use in general and set up was no great problem. The unit is good value for price and as a DIYr I’m confident this will be an asset for the usage I need,, I would recommend this laptop not only for entry level but also for those of us who consider ourselves computer literate LOL.

Good value
Pretty good for the price. Slightly irritating size and position of the on button is my only slight gripe! A nice little workhorse and very light to carry around in my bag.
