Hooked it up and hung it in the pen.Chickens like it.So far it’s been about two weeks and no issues.We will see how it works for the winter

I have high hopes for this little waterer and if it actually lasts for at least 6 months will consider purchasing for some of my other smaller coops. Only a few cons I see so far. 1) the container is quite small which could pose a problem should an excited bird hit it and makes it tip over, a cube shape would have made a more sturdy option. 2) the container is very thin so I’m not sure how well it’s going to hold up to the elements, we shall see. 3) the cups sit quite low, normally would be a good thing but if there is any bedding it interferes with the cups seating right as it fills constantly spilling over the cups. I zip tied mine to the fence to elevate it a little and that helped. 4) now this wasn’t an issue for me but that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t be for someone else, there were no instructions for assembly.

It's pricey but does a great job for our backyard chickens. We still check it every day when feeding just to be safe. No need to buy the larger version because the auto fill keeps it full.

Everything inside is cheap plastic. The auto shut off worked for about 2 months. There is no way to fix it. I have to go out and fill it up three times a day which defeats the purpose of the auto shut off.I have ordered a CoopWorx 8 gallon silo auto waterer. I already have the feeder. Can't go wrong with these feeders and waterers.

What is the gray plastic insert in the lid for?

I ordered this and installed it to find out that the float didnt work correctly to shut the water off- so the water kept filling in the tank - and then leaked out the holes for the handles. I really liked this concept, so I ordered a whole new one, and this one worked well (returned the 1st). Chickens had no problem figuring it out right away - once 1 learns how to use it, they all learn! It's nice to know as the HOT temps of summer get here that my chickens will always have fresh water.

I have been using this for just over a month. Two of the watering cups have already stopped working. Just missed the return window. I would buy a different one.
