Does it work for a dcr-dvd305?

I only use it for my older Sony I can’t tell you anything alse. But you can check the sellers information to see what other items can be charged.

Why does part of this charger separate? I noticed there's a piece that slides off and I was wondering why

The piece that slides off allows you to change the plugs to adapt to international plugs used in other countries.

My honest opinion

It is really good. The charging speed is pretty fast due to its size. It was really worth it. The battery life is pretty good with the functionality is not that great because you can’t use it with some other batteries but it’s pretty good all in all.
