Hardwood Wrench Jr. Lightweight Board Straightener Tool

I liked the description of the Deckwise Hardwood Wrench Jr. so ordered one for our carpenter to try while rebuilding a deck using 12-foot spans of 5/4"x6" cumaru decking and 3/32" Deckwise Ipe Extreme hidden fasteners. He was reluctant but initially agreeable. The delivery was delayed a few days, by which time the deck was already started, the builder's technique of screwing/rescrewing 2x6 boards into the joists (through joist tape) against which he either pulled or pushed curved boards with clamps was working well, and he was no longer interested in trying anything new. I cancelled (I thought) the already shipped order through Amazon's phone support. We refused delivery when UPS arrived with it anyway, but they circled back the next day and left it on our steps. So ... I opened it and showed our builder how to use it. We worked together the last day and finished the deck using clamps only when a second point of fixation was necessary. He liked the wrench so much, I gave it to him.

This board bending tool works really good.

Best board bender ever made. I have used a few variants of different designs. This is the only one the works on installing vertical wall boards. Since the 2x4s are on the face, you have to have a 3 1/2 inch opening for the board bender to work. Plus it’s made in America. Win win.

The bender works ok. I have two big gripes with it… 1. The cam is too thin. When you try and bend boards. It hoops off the board easy with hardwood +/- 2” 2. The peg to adjust what size joists/ boards to ben to bend is a poor design.. the bolt always is in need of adjustment so there is no possibility of not buying the replacement part if you can find it.

If you have a hardwood deck, you'll need this! The others will break.
