Bowl carving chuck
Got this the other day. I read the reviews which were mixed but took a chance on it. It has performed perfectly and has paid for itself in a couple hours. Would definitely buy another one and just may to have it in stock as backup

Functional. But soft steel.
The chuck performs okay. But the jaws are not dovetailed. So you will have to adjust your tenons accordingly. The inner step of the jaws are set back a half inch or more from the front jaws, which makes them hard to use unless your bowl is long and narrow. The outer edges of the jaws are pointed, making them unsuitable to use in a recess (in my opinion). They also protrude far enough from the body that it's too east to nip your tool -- which happened to me. And that led to my other discovery: my gouge was not damaged when it came in contact with the spinning chuck. The chuck was. Just a little nick that does not affect its function. But I don't expect a long life out of it.

Worth the money
Love the option of having different jaws. The chuck seems solid built. It fits the lathe perfect even with the attachment. Changing the jaws out is easy and the chuck key design is easy to tighten your work piece. Cleaning and maintenance is easy and doesn’t require a lot of time.

Once modified works well
Chuck is good quality for the price. Chuck was not balanced as received. I balanced the chuck in place using the lathe to spin chuck and adding small, stick on weights by trial and error until chuck ran smooth and then drill a small hole on OD to balance.
