Messy but oh so good!
I am not a vine reviewer so I speak the truth. This still is a must for any mechanical repairs. It is very messy and loves to go places you don't expect. Loves to drip and find it's way to butter finger prints. It acts like a lubricant on threads, like bolts and fittings, so they go together nice and smooth. This stuff use to be called Gasket Shellac in the old times. This works for gaskets, but also as a thread sealant, like for intake bolts, and head bolts.

Works as described
I used this product for a small engine project. It does work. There was no oil dripping from the top engine side and the oil sump. I did use the recommended gasket. I did allow the product to dry for 24 hrs.

Great Product!
I've used this product for over 40 years. I was in the engine business and we used this on freeze plugs, oil galley plugs, head bolts and any other bolts that would allow air or water to leak by the threads. It's also great for water pump and tstat gaskets. This was originally used om head gaskets back when they were metal.

Hidden gem among sealants
This is great gasket sealing material. I have never used it before and was going to use Permatex ultra black. A friend recommended this stuff so I gave it a try. So far, I've used it to seal the oil pan on my motorcycle. Works like a charm on the oil pan gasket (both sides). I applied a light, even coat on the pan gasket, reattached the pan, and screwed in the bolts finger tight only. I waited overnight before tightening to torque specs. No seeping. It works! As with any gasket and sealant, make sure your sealing or mating surfaces are clean. Stir or shake before using I'm giving this only 4 stars because the brush broke off from the cap. Also, the can has no information about drying or curing time. I checked the Permatex website and found the technical data sheet for this stuff. According to the data sheet, you can use whatever you applied it to after 4 hours. It cures in 24 hours but this stuff never really dries out. It hardens some, but stays tacky/sticky like dried tree sap or resin. So 1 less star for a broken brush and abbreviated info on the can. Finally, you'd think this stuff would be hard to remove, but it comes right off. As an example, I bungled a valve cover job on my bike and had to remove the gasket and the Permatex #3. It came off easily with rubbing alcohol or contact cleaner and a shop towel. I also used those solvents and fine steel wool which worked well. That you can remove it with minimum effort is surprising because it stands up to oil and fuel. Impressive stuff!

Tractor Diesel Connections Fixed - Update - gasoline line!
I was having constant leaks from the shut-off fuel valve on my farm tractor tank. The copper crush washers and banjo bolts were not working and replacement parts were on order. But due to shipping delays it will be weeks for parts, so I ordered this stuff. Once the area was clean and dry, I brushed it on each side of the crush washers and was careful to limit the amount near the banjo bolt openings. I didn't wait a few minutes as written on the can, but installed the parts quickly back on the tank. Once in place and tightened, I waited about 20 minutes and refueled, there were no leaks. Its been several days of heavy work and still not a drop has gotten past this stuff. I will probably wait on replacing the parts even once they arrive since this stuff is working so well. Also works on some fuel high-pressure lines. I may try it on some steering lines on some other equipment. I would suggest that cleaning the areas to receive this stuff is probably the key. Hit your areas with a can of carb/choke or similar. Then once it is all dry, go to work with the goo. If you try and add it to diesel covered parts, it looks oily, sorta like it is forcing the diesel into droplet or scattered patches on the parts, which would then allow a leak. So you want a good solid coverage. Update: March 20, 2024. I have a Husqv riding mower that I was getting ready to use for spring cut. Took the carb off to clean it all up and the o-ring/gasket in the float bowl broke. Of course all it kept doing was leaking on me. No replacement on hand and needed asap. So I went to my trusty Aviation gasket goo. Cleaned carb bowl up real good, put goo on both areas and sandwiched old gasket in between (see pics). The brown goo squeezed out around the lid, but I knew from diesel tractor that it could handle fuel. So I hooked fuel lines back up and away I went. Just so you know, diesel tractor is still sealed with goo and working perfect from back in May 2022. I try and leave quality reviews to help people solve the same issues I have. This stuff is dark brown goo, that is sticky/tacky from the get-go. I might not use it to seal a fuel issue on my Learjet XJ19 before taking off, but I might use it in mid-flight while I'm holding on to the wing repairing the jet fuel lines : ) No I don't have a jet. But if I did, that would be really cool movie stunt.

Used on paper gasket.
This never disappoints, used on a paper gasket to seal my idle control valve block off plate. Using this stuff for years on everything and not once have I experienced a leak, easy to clean up also.
