Roomwise I think it would be handy for hiking. My only concern would be the fabric might show sweat from your back from hike, so maybe do darker color.

I haven’t purchased this bag but I have the same question that you have. According to the description the “A” and “B-small” are the same sizes. The difference that I see is that the “A” bag has one front pocket and the “B-small” has two front pickets.

Yes, as long as it isn't over packed and can easily zip.
