Mobile App Development for iOS and Android, Edition 2.0

This is a great book with plenty of examples and easy to follow steps. I'm only a few chapters in but am impressed with it so far.

The examples do help you get through the problems with some help from google. I just wish it was more up to date. However, it’s very hard to find a book that can keep up with the pace that android and Apple release things.

If you are not familiar with Android programming... all I can say is good luck, because the whole book is horribly out of date, both in the coding examples and the basic IDE instructions. You will have to do a fair amount of research to fact-check what the book is saying, because usually there are at least a half dozen instructions that are no longer applicable. Very confusing for a novice. This is the textbook I'm using at university, and even the Instructor said the book is no good, but he hasn't found an alternative yet, so he's modifying the code for the lectures.

I had to use this book (purchased digitally on RedShelf) for a introduction to Mobile App class and it was the most useless book I ever had to use for a class. The instructions do not line up with the current version of Android Studio. After chapter 2 I stopped using for instructions because nothing in it was accurate. I had to learn everything Android Studio to accomplish the assignments from the book. Do yourself a favor and save your money.

This book is impossible to follow and complete the exercises without doing tons of google searches for solutions. This is my textbook for college and the entire Android section is out of date. From chapter 1 thru chapter 8 is no good. The instructions for the simple "Hello World" app cannot be followed based on the book instructions. The very first screen shots and instructions for the first app don't even show up in Android Studio. Unbelievable!! Maybe the book was good for Android Studio 5 versions ago but not now.
