Raddy RF320 APP Control Shortwave Radio, AIR/FM/VHF/SWReceiver with Bluetooth, Portable Radio Rechargeable with 9.85 Ft Wire Antenna

It's actually not common to find this particular radio in the UK so I was excited when it became available. You may have already spotted this radio in it's other guises. The Raddy RF320 features a soothing amber illumination for the display and analogue tuning dial, as well as a replaceable 18650 lithium ion battery. What really caught my eye with this radio is its retro military look. However it's not just a great looker and amazingly compact, it boasts an impressive specification and punchy sound quality as well. The Raddy RF320 picks up your usual AM band (MW) from 520 to 1710KHz, shortwaves from 3.2 MHz to 21.95MHz, VHF from 30MHz all the way up to 199.975MHz, FM from 64 to 108MHz including stereo reception through headphones, AIR bands (AM) from 118 to 138MHz, and if you happen to live in North America, weather bands from 162.4 to 162.55 MHz. One of the key features of this radio is the several options available for tuning. This includes traditional up/down buttons (with adjustable frequency steps), hold to scan up/down tuning, an endless rotary encoder on the side (again with adjustable frequency steps), an 'analogue' style dial on the front for speedy scanning of the selected band, and then using a bluetooth connected mobile app (iOS or Android) where you can directly enter frequencies directly on a keypad. The larger BAND button switches between SW, VHF, FM, AM, Airband and Weather band, whilst there's a sub band button to step through the different sub bands within each - for example on shortwave the sub band button steps through the 11 sub bands 3.2, 4.75, 5.60, 7.35, 9.90, 12.10, 13.87, 15.80, 17.90, 19.10 and 21.85 MHz. This makes scanning the bands much easier, especially when used in conjunction with the side and front dials. The mobile app definitely needs a special mention. Once paired with bluetooth it mirrors the functions and frequency readout of the radio. There are hundreds of memories to store your favourite channels and you can recall and then step through the memory locations with ease. You can also name your frequencies for easier recall, although names only show up on the mobile app. By holding the BAND button down for a few seconds you can get the radio to autoscan an entire band and populate the memories itself. This will though erase any previously stored memories. You can also play from your phone to the radio via Bluetooth and synchronise the time setting directly. The app will also display the full names of any music tracks or recordings saved on the micro SD card whilst playing on the radio (the radio just displays the track number on its smaller display). Despite the relatively small and fragile built-in telescopic aerial, the radio is impressively sensitive and I was impressed at how many stations I was able to receive. I was also able to listen to local aircraft tower broadcasts after looking up the station frequencies online, listen to many shortwave stations and enjoy stereo FM stations through the supplied headphones. With the Raddy RF320 you also get a long wire antenna cable included which when clipped to the telescopic antenna improves reception, particularly on the shortwave bands. The radio also includes a handy zipped carry case, a pair of stereo earbuds with spare tips, a tiny screwdriver for removing the battery cover, a little brush for keeping those case crevices dust free, a carrying strap and a USB-C cable for charging the radio. For its size I wasn't expecting much from the tiny speaker, but it completely blew me away. There is a passive bass radiator on the rear of the case and it delivers a surprising full sound with noticeable bass and punch. With 5W of audio output it can go very loud and without distortion. There are several EQ settings which for a change do make a difference to the treble and bass, so a really nice addition. Unfortunately there's no user adjustable preset for tone so you are stuck to the presets. The Raddy RF320 has an amber backlit LCD display which is relaxing to view at night and in low light. The analogue dial next to it which does have a switch at the end of its travel (rather like an old radio volume control) also has an amber backlight when activated. There are settings on the radio for both these backlights and a pair of fancy 'mood' multicolour LEDs on the rear of the radio. You can change the on/off settings for each of these lights, so either have them all on, just one or two, or automatically go off after a short time. As mentioned what sets the Raddy RF320 apart (other than the backlighting colour and additional accessories) is that it has a built-in rechargeable and replaceable 2000mAh 3.7V 18650 lithium battery. The battery takes about 4-5 hrs to fully charge and run time is around 3 hrs or more depending on volume and light settings. A few other features worth mentioning. As well as a stereo headphone 3.5mm output socket, there's a 3.5mm AUX IN jack, USB-C socket for both charging and accessing the built-in Micro SD card slot of the radio. You can also insert a micro SD card into the side of the radio and playback your own MP3s or even record from the radio using the mobile app. Unfortunately it is not possible to enable recording from the radio itself, but the recordings are saved alongside any other music files on the micro SD card so can be played back without the app. You can also use the radio as a powered speaker via the Aux input jack or as bluetooth speaker - it supports version 5 Bluetooth. If all these features aren't enough there is a useful torch on the side with SOS mode and a siren, a sleep timer and a timer feature to turn the radio on and off automatically. A truly remarkable radio set for it size that has a lovely nostalgic feel, amazing full sound and plenty of features to keep you busy. The app adds additional features like recording and station naming, plus direct frequency input. Reception quality and sensitivity is excellent although enthusiasts might be dissapointed that there is no SSB mode on shortwave. Also the shortwave bands only go up to 22MHz, a bit higher would have been nice. The built-in telescopic aerial is convenient but the top elements are very thin and easily bent so I usually retract the top sections after withdrawing the aerial for protection. As a pocket sized travel radio and music player, this definitely deserves a listen.

I have an (unhealthy) attraction to collecting radios!! I love it and had my eye on this bad boy for about 8 months. I made a promise to get one. So, I did and I'm super happy. FM sounds amazing. You wouldn't know the difference between this and DAB. It's that good. Not tinny nor boomy and can be adjusted using preset EQ. Perhaps it's me getting older but as usual, the instructions are poor and in a font that only the new born or those with a magnifier can read. As such, been playing around myself. It's all largely intuitive and have managed to connect my phone to it with little difficulty. Quite a handy remote function as the buttons on the radio are on the small side. I can't help thinking what is the point of having 4 ways of tuning (1the digital buttons, 2the dial on the front, 3dial on the side and 4remote on the phone) but actually it's really handy and the manual dials act as a fine tune for the macro digital tune. Very handy. I live about 7 miles away from our local airport and can pick up the automated weather and runway for pilots on AIR band and with time, I'll sort out the other bands. VHF is a bit quiet where I live. ( I have my f/l). All in all this is a versatile and quality radio, built for reception and those that want to take radio reception just a wee bit further than just turning a radio on. You will need a little bit of knowledge in radio reception and the ability to connect a device to bluetooth on your phone. I attached a screen shot of what the app looks like. The app IS NOT on the android play store. The app details are provided by a web address on the supplied QR code, just be aware of this as I had to allow permissions on my phone using the Google prompts that came up. Don't be put off, it's not hard. Enjoy, I know I sure will.

I got this thinking I would be like a scanner and spend ages on it listening to all sorts but ( no fault of the actual device) more like My complete ignorance and lack of knowledge I couldn't optimise it for my scanning. I have been in contact with the seller who has been nothing but helpful and very much committed to there customer service and support. I had originally left a (choice!) review but I can't fault the radio or the seller in any way. Thanks 🙏

I’ve been around radios for years this is my own personal review fm sound quality good depending on signal strength rechargeable good but switch out the battery for a higher capacity one supplied with 18650 battery bout 1600 miliamp there batteries out there 3500 miliamp extends the radio time between charges 5 watt speaker sub woofer loud now this is were the radio falls short weather band only works USA vhf nothing short wave no stations worth listening to m.w fiction again not much listening wat we got oh fm fuction most usable part of th radio air band really not much there either don’t mess the sleep fuction trying to turn that off nothing special

I'd watched a couple of youtube reviews on this before i got it. Very clever radio that can do a lot of things. Many more things than i will need to to. Great reception form the ariel. It's smaller than it looks in the pics tho and the buttons are a bit fiddly

Een goede radio met zeer goede ontvangst alhoewel ik in het Centrum woont kun je er redelijk vele radio stations ontvangen dus goed geslaagd.

Ich bin ein Hifibastler und arbeite als mein Hobby alte Hifitechnik aus den 70‘ern + 80‘ern auf (Tonbandgeräte, Kassettendecks, Radios, Plattenspieler usw.). Durch dieses Hobby weiß ich, was klanglich möglich ist und habe immer einen Vergleich zu neuen Geräten. Nun habe ich mir aus Interesse einfach mal ein paar kompakte Radios gekauft, um zu sehen, was heutzutage angeboten wird und ich war teilweise wirklich positiv überrascht. Die Firma Raddy kannte ich vorher noch nicht, nun besitze ich bereits 5 Radios von Raddy. Auch wenn einige Geräte scheinbar eine Gemeinschaftsproduktion mit anderen Herstellern zu sein scheint (z.B. Retekess), bewerte ich hier mithilfe meiner Erfahrungen die Firma Raddy. Hier geht es nun um das außergewöhnliche Raddy RF-320: Das Gehäuse / die Funktionen: - ein tolles „Solid-State-Design“ der 80‘er - digitales Display und analoge Anzeige getrennt beleuchtbar - schöne Beleuchtungsdetails – sogar auf der Rückseite (als indirekte Stimmungsbeleuchtung) - seitlich eingebaute Taschenlampe mit guter Streuung - saubere Verarbeitung und teils sehr schöne haptische Bedienung über die beiden Frequenzeinstellräder - eine schöne doppelte LED Lichterkette oben drauf wird zur Anzeige von (VU) Pegel verwendet und ist ein absolutes Design-Highlight, abschaltbar - die Tasten an der Front besitzen alle eine Doppelbelegung - Bluetooth Wiedergabe bzw. in Verbindung mit der Raddy-App mit Handy fernbedienbar - MP3 Wiedergabe und weitere Formate über Micro-SD Karte - Stereowiedergabe über Klinkenbuchse - AUX – Eingang über Klinkenbuchse - austauschbarer 18650‘er Akku Der Empfang: Auch der Sendersuchlauf gestaltet sich hier als ein Design-Highlight, da sich direkt mit dem Rad eine interne Rundskala dreht, die zwar nur in % analog anzeigt, wo man ist, aber dafür wird die Frequenz zuverlässig im linken Display angezeigt. - Sender rasten sauber und einfach ein - die Sender finden sich sehr einfach mit dem Senderrrad, manche Sender sind aber nicht ganz rauschfrei empfangbar, wo andere Raddyradios etwas rauschärmer regeln Zwischen den Sendern gibt es zum Glück mal keine komplette Rauschunterdrückung, was den manuellen Sendersuchlauf extrem vereinfacht (z.B. im SW und MW Band). Die Empfangsstärke würde ich als mittelgut einstufen. Bei FM ist der Empfang vertretbar gut. Dafür konnte ich im SW-Band einige schwache Sender garnicht reinbekommen, das ist aber mehr meckern auf hohem Niveau. Der Klang: Insgesamt gibt es hier einen sehr sauberen Lautsprecherklang mit klaren Höhen, der aber leider nur über teils unbrauchbare Equalizer-Voreinstellungen veränderbar ist. Der interne 5 W Mono-Lautsprecher besitzt eine zusätzliche Bassmembrane auf der Rückseite und ist im Gehäuse getrennt gekapselt, wodurch der tiefe Bass etwas betont wird. Nicht so doll ist der Klang über den Stereo Klinken-Kopfhöreranschluss – hier fehlt es einfach an Höhen und Bässen und die voreingestellten Equalizereinstellungen machen das Ganze nicht besser. Fazit: Raddy – bitte integriert bei solchen schönen Radios eine getrennte Bass- und Höhenregelung – die voreingstellten Equalizerklänge bieten nicht das, wozu das Radio fähig ist. Ansonsten ein schönes und außergewöhnliches Radio im 80‘er Jahre Solid-State-Design mit sehenswerter VU-Anzeige und haptisch sehr angenehmer Senderwahl. Der Klang mit dem Lautsprecher ist top aber über Klinkenbuchse etwas ausbaufähig. Ich vergebe trotzdem volle 5 Sterne, weil das einfach ein tolles Radio ist und dazu gibt es eine klare Kaufempfehlung für Sammler und Radiofans, die etwas optisch Besonderes haben wollen.

Doet het goed op alle frequenties goed geluid Zou fijn zijn dat er een aansluiting voor een externe antenne op zat maar zonder heb je ook goede onvangst
