Great Company with Great Drones
This is my second Holy Stone Drone and what a disappointment. My first Holy Stone Drone was the HS720E and let me tell you that drone was amazing for the price. Very responsive and easy to use. I thought from that amazing experience and all the fun I had with it that I would upgrade to a more expensive Holy Stone Drone with more distance, battery life and a better camera. I purchased the Holy Stone Drone HS720R and was very excited to receive it. But after receiving this Drone I calibrated it did everything possible for it to fly if not better at least like my first one. But regardless of what I did it just kept taking off and going to the left regardless of my commands and everything I tried. Recalibrated it again and took it out again on a beautiful day with no wind or weather issues at all. Took off and it seemed fine at first flying and responding ok but after maybe 7 minutes into my flight the drone once again began to fly left regardless of commands. The drone flew off left into the trees even after pressing the return home button and any other commands I tried. I was not able to find or retrieve the drone, still hoping to find it. I never had a chance to experience what this drone had to offer and very disappointing experience. I would have thought that with me buying a more expensive Holy Stone Drone I would have a greater experience. But that is not the case with this drone or maybe I was just unlucky to have gotten a defective drone. In any case I’m out of my money and a drone hopefully I will find it. Update: After contacting Holy Stone about my situation I had with my drone. They responded quickly offering me a full refund without any hassle. After seeing how great they treat their customers I will continue to buy Holy Stone Drones.

This drone is unstable and prone to veering out of control
Just like many others have said, mine spun wildly out of control to the first tree at high speed and crashed. The second time it broke the plastic holding the camera. It takes off and hovers and then starts drifting in circles. At some point it loses any command and banks sharply and picks up speed. The "Return Home" button informs it to go as fast as possible and look for a tree to run into. Called the company with pictures and they said that I now have a parts drone for the next drone I buy from them. I used it twice with similar results. I even had the customer service agent on the phone while I operated it the first time. I spent 2.5 hours crawling through blackberry bushes to find it. This thing is the worst. Do not buy it. Unfortunately, the camera part is not available as a spare part and cannot be replaced. I'm sorry that we couldn't provide a replacement item for your order, because it falls outside the 270-day warranty period. We understand that this may be disappointing. As an alternative, you may consider purchasing another unit, and the original drone can be used for spare parts. Best regards, Customer Support

Great Drone!!
This is the second drone I've owned. My first was a very basic model drone, and I could never get the camera to work right. I saw the Holy Stone HS720R, and thought....why not?! =) First off, I've been delayed in flying the drone, and writing a review. I had to reach out to Holy Stone about getting the RemoteID for the drone. Their response was very quick, and they didn't even charge me for the RemoteID. Needless to say, I was tickled pink. Anyway, once I got the drone, I went online and got my TRUST certificate, then I had to register with the FAA. All of this took a while, but I finally got it finished, and got to take the drone out today. Stupid me...I thought I had a memory card that would work. I searched, and couldn't find one that had a lot of memory, so I didn't save any of the photos or video. But, I was able to see through the camera while I flew the drone. I have ordered a new memory card, and hope to fly the drone again, getting pictures/video next weekend, or over the Thanksgiving holiday. I'll update this review with new pictures. The drone is really easy to fly. I really liked that. The auto takeoff and landing is a nice feature. I don't really need it, but it does make thinks a lot simpler. The remote has really good signal strength, and I flew the drone for about 40 minutes...MUCH longer than my old drone that could only do 15 minutes on one charge. =) The drone was very responsive, and I had a really good time flying it. I do miss the old days, though, when you could fly higher than 400 feet. Oh well. I also have to be careful and keep my ears open because I live near a military base, and a small airport. While I am in between the two restricted airspaces, there is the occasional Cessna or other small craft that can come by. The F16 fly pretty low too, but I'm sure they are way over 400 feet. =) I am really looking forward to using this drone more. I can't wait to take it out to the AZ desert, and watch the folks in their side-by-sides or Razrs zipping through the desert. I'll update the review when I get a little more air time, and get my larger memory stick in. I definitely recommend this drone, though. From what I've experienced so far, it is a really nice unit. ****Update**** Received the memory card and was able to get pictures. Great quality, and easy to take with the buttons right on the controller. These shots are of the Blythe Intaglios, outside of Blythe, AZ.

Great little drone
Great little drone clear video and pictures. Farthest I could fly was about 1,500ft before signal started fading. Soon as it loses signal it returns as advertised. Battery last about 20-30mins. Stability is pretty good great for beginners.

Great drone with responsive support!
This is my first drone, so I was a bit intimidated to try flying it. I spent a lot of time reading the manual, registering the drone, the ID module, and taking the TRUST test for certification. All of these things proved helpful prior to my first flight. I discovered a LED was not working and a call to support proved very helpful. They will be sending out a new part ASAP. I’ll update on the shipping time and ease of install when it arrives. The controller is very responsive and functions very well. It is light yet sturdy and comfortable. I love the prices for setting the orientation axes pre-flight to insure stable and accurate flight. I did find a video that also shows how to set the gyro as well. There is a lot of great YouTube content on this awesome drone and it helped make me very comfortable enough to take my first flight. The drone is solid and handles well with the ID module I added to comply with FCC regulations. Weather here is snowy so I am taking small interior flights to practice. As weather clears I will add to the review. So far this drone has proven to be a strikingly maneuverable and easy craft to learn. The 3 axis gimbal 4k camera is great and remarkably stable. I can’t wait to try it at altitude!! Stay tuned for more…..

Shockingly bad, possibly dangerous
Sometimes I'll dismiss negative reviews if it appears the issues might be user error. I've flown race drones. I've flown the original Mavic Pro, which this mimics. I've flown various drones. I'd call this one dangerous. The first time I commanded a take off and hover, it immediately went into a flyaway, straight into my fence. It ignored stick inputs. I thought maybe it was a prop issue, but no. The camera gimbal did pop out a bit and I worried it was already broken, but it popped right back in. Camera appears fine. I attempted a hover again, making sure it's in "sport" mode in case the extremely low rates in other modes were to blame for lack of recovery, and finally got it to hover. But it's all over the place. Either the software/firmware on this thing is super error prone, or the IMU is junk. Occasionally it'd stop trying to hover and getting it to move in a direction would just...not work. I'd have to hold stick input in that direction to keep it from crashing and force it to land to recover and try again. Another issue is you can't tell it to land just by holding down while on the ground. DJI figured this out long ago. I mean a _long_ time ago. So if I'm having stick input issues and trying to just keep it safe by holding that stick down, I have to do some hand gymnastics to hit the land button or the kill button. That is, until it even starts ignoring those. Because it will. The controller will beep and everything as though you're executing these functions but the drone won't respond. The behavior reminds me of old drone flight controller firmwares. It seems like they're just using open source drone firmware and not actually making them safe. If the issue is the controller signal to the drone is weak, it should properly failsafe, either RTH or hover. But it seems to be likely following last input. And it takes so long to relink/rebind that the drone is almost guaranteed to crash. I'm not very far from the drone when these problems happen. I'm talking less than 100 feet. I'm literally in the danger zone if this thing decides to fly at me. I'm always in VLOS. What about the camera? Well it's a super cheap camera, one of those that tends to have a bit of a pink hue. Resolution don't matter if the color is bad. Though none of this matters if you can't get it to fly safely. Charging was also an issue. The controller and the battery have USB-C ports, but they are not USB-C compliant. It took a while to figure out how to get them charging with any of the chargers I have on hand. I ended up using a USB port on a computer rather than a dedicated USB charger because none of them would work. I'm all for cheap drones to get people introduced to this hobby. I don't recommend this one. If an experienced drone pilot is concerned about flying this, then everyone should be concerned about its safety. At this point there's enough damage to it that it's no longer airworthy and I'm sure Holy Stone will not bother to help me, assuming user error.

When it works properly it's good - it just fails more than it works
The controls are pretty easy to use but in my first five test flights it would start flying off in directions where I didn't tell it to fly. I was flying in a remote area with little chance of interference and at different times of the day. I also took all of the precautions that Holy Stone made in order to minimize interference. But after one to ten minutes of flight it would just go wonky. One time when I hit the land button on the remote it took off at full speed to the right and crashed into a pile of pine straw around a tree. Another time I let go of the control so it would just hover and it took off to the right and flew into the branches of a tree. The tree was 40 feet away, and I tried to change direction, but the drone was unresponsive. Another time it started doing the circle around a center point but I didn't ask it to do that - I hadn't even looked up the instructions on how to do it. And the way it's done through the app there's no way I told it to do it by accident (I learned this after IT DID IT ON ITS OWN AND CRASHED). On the plus side it did have good flight time and battery life and did well when it followed my directions from the remote. It just didn't always follow my instructions and took off in other directions, even when I released the controls so it would just hover. I wanted to love it but just couldn't. Their customer service was good and they sent me a replacement but it also started flying off on its own and crashing so I returned it for refund.
