Good value and soft grit
Lovely grey, fine and soft grit that works well in automatic cat litter trays. Clumps poop well so the machine can clear it well leaving clean grit behind.

Outstanding Clumping & Absorbency – High-Performance, Low-Waste, Cost-Effective Cat Litter
Dr. Elsey’s Precious Cat Ultra Cat Litter exemplifies high performance across multiple key parameters: absorbency, clumping integrity, hygiene maintenance, and cost-efficiency. Formulated from premium-grade medium-grain sodium bentonite, the litter demonstrates rapid liquid absorption, forming structurally stable clumps that prevent fluid dispersion and reduce ammonia-related odour—supporting optimal litter hygiene and ease of cleaning. Absorbency is a standout feature; the granules encapsulate moisture rapidly, resulting in dense clumps that are easily removed without residue. This not only maintains a clean litter bed but significantly limits the need for full litter replacement, enhancing long-term value for money. When paired with automated litter systems such as PETKIT, the efficiency is further amplified—minimising waste, extending refill intervals, and ensuring consistent sensor responsiveness. This compatibility markedly improves functionality for multi-cat or high-traffic households. In terms of texture, the granule size strikes a practical balance—fine enough to ensure feline comfort underfoot, while coarse enough to resist compaction and minimise tracking. The product adheres minimally to the paws and coat, reducing particulate transfer beyond the litter area. While a small amount of dust may be generated during initial pouring, in-use dust levels remain low and non-intrusive, supporting respiratory health and indoor air quality. Behavioural acceptance is exemplary. In the case of a British Shorthair introduced to this litter from initial acclimatisation, consistent use and strong litter box fidelity have been observed—suggesting high palatability and environmental compatibility. Economically, the product provides excellent value, with conservative usage enabled by effective clump isolation and low daily waste output. This positions it as a highly sustainable choice for long-term use, particularly when integrated into automated systems. In conclusion, Dr. Elsey’s Ultra Cat Litter is a functionally advanced, behaviourally compatible, and economically sound product. Its superior absorbency, low-tracking composition, and high compatibility with modern litter systems render it an outstanding solution for feline hygiene management.

Still the best clay litter!
I used to swear by Dr Elsey’s back home in the US for years, but wasn’t able to find it after moving to England. Glad to see it’s available now and I haven’t found a comparable clay litter that works better with a Litter Robot, or that generates less dust. I’d say the tracking and odor control are on par with other bentonite litters though. This is a little pricier than other brands, but it’s a decent size bag so lasts a long time with a litter robot.

Good clumping litter.
One star off because this is some very expensive litter. On the up side, it's one of the only litters our cat will use, so needs must. It's unscented and clumps perfectly. It does very well with odour control. It does have as much dust as other clay litters and its small particles tend to track rather far. We've been tapering our cat onto World's Best Clumping, which is a better fit for all involved, because the dustiness of this was making us all a little miserable. Still, probably the best clay litter on the market.

This product is great, but if its your first time buying, take a look
I came over this product when I first got my own cats(Bengals) and started to read up about RAW food. I visited a few great pages but this one veterinary page where she explained why RAW is truly the best way to go for a healthy cat, she also talked about litter and problems a lot of people may experience. First reason this litter was picked is because it DUSTS a lot less than other litters, like for example World's Best Cat Litter. So after having used World's Best Cat Litter and wasn't too impressed by the poor clumping I decided to go for this one. And let me tell you, this thing is like cement! But, in a good way! The thing is, when cats go to the litter box, and when they push the litter around, it generates a lot of dust. The dust it generates is not good for your cats lungs, and as such this litter is great. It dusts very little compared to other clumping litters. If you are buying this litter, make sure you put a really thick layer of it, this litter is like cement. If the pee reaches the bottom it will be hard to get off. Buy a sturdy litter scoop! If you let the pee dry up for a while, it will get dry pretty quick, and then it is it's super easy to clean. It really clumps perfectly, and it never falls apart like it does with other cat litters. It may take a while to get used to this litter and to learn how to best use it, but this litter is better than TWBCL, it is a lot more gentle on your cats lungs and doesn't fall apart!

This truly is the BEST LITTER EVER!
I read the glowing reviews on the larger pack of this item and thought Id give this a shot as Ive been on a hunt to find some decent litter. Pros: - hides the smell - clumps really well - feels like it will last a long time Cons: - none! If you are a fan of Catsan clumping litter, you will love this even more! I have CCL in one litter box and this in another: this one hides the smell sooooo much better - not just in the tray but also in the plastic bag (which I use to dispose of my bubbas pee/poop). I actually enjoy scooping now(!!!) and when I open the plastic bag to dispose everything Ive scooped, I no longer want to hurl at the strong smell omitting from it! EDIT: Ive knocked off two stars due to the below cons: -it tracks everywhere! My bubba sleeps on my chair sometimes and his tray is 2 meters from the chair - Ive noticed some of the litter on my chair so clearly its sticking to his paws. -I have 2 x large litter boxes and Ive had to use 2/3rds of this litter in order to fill it up. This is the first time I havent emptied out the tray, given it a good clean and topped it up with fresh litter otherwise I would of used it all in 2 weeks :( I have no choice but to look elsewhere -Its heavy, especially after my bubba has done a pee. I have filled up the litter box to a min of 5cm but it still clays at the bottom so I have no choice but to scrap it out -After switching to wood pellets (so much cheaper!), I find that it doesnt hid the smell as well as I initially thought it did FYI: I read somewhere that clay based litter isnt good for a cats lungs (best to do your research)

Brilliant, absolutely love it!
I have two cats and struggled to find a cat litter that helps me manage the litter easily. The absorbency of the litter makes it extremely easy to find the clumps of urine and tracks the poo easily. It makes litter cleaning within few minutes which is super convenient for a single mum of two boys and busy on the go schedule. For the amount this package comes in, one bag lasts me for 3+ months and a great value for money!

Awful
I tried this litter as it was rated so highly but I had to get rid of it before I was halfway through the bag. As soon as its wet it creates a cement like paste that has ruined the litter tray and also after just one wet use it made a smell like something had died. It's one good thing is that it doesn't get tracked through the house like larger litter

From Crystal to Clay: My Experience with This Cat Litter
I recently decided to switch from crystal to clay litter and ordered two bags, intending to have an extra on hand in case I got busy. However, I was surprised when they shipped me one massive 40kg bag instead. It was incredibly heavy, and lifting it felt like it was going to break my back. Unfortunately, the packaging was disappointing. There was a tear in the bag, causing sand to spill out. Unlike other brands that package their product in a box to prevent damage, this one didn't seem to care about protecting the product during shipping. When people say the clumping is HARD, they mean it—literally. Scooping and cleaning the litter box was a real struggle. On the plus side, it does the job well, isn’t dusty, and controls odors to some extent. Adding a litterbox deodorant helped significantly with odor control. In conclusion, for its price, this is probably the best affordable litter on the market, especially if you're concerned about your cat's lungs due to dust. I'm not sure if my cat loves it, but he definitely prefers it over the old clay litter I bought in the past. While I still personally prefer crystal litter for its softness on the paws, it's just too expensive. Overall, this is a good product, and I’ll consider buying it again—just in a smaller size.

Best litter ever
This is the best litter I’ve ever used. I’ve tried so many different types of litter to help with how much my two cats were tracking around the house. I was getting so sick of having to clean white paw prints everywhere and constantly sanitizing. This stuff has zero tracking and has made my life SO much easier when it comes to cleaning. I used to hate having to clean other litter and the clumps would fall apart everywhere and make a huge mess. This stuff clumps into super hard tight balls that never fall apart. Soooo easy to scoop now. You do need to have a super sturdy litter scoop though cause the clumps are almost like balls of cement and very heavy. This stuff also helps to dehydrate poop very well so I never have problems with messy sticky poop getting stuck to the sides of the box or on the scoop. I find that since this stuff is so good at clumping it leaves the rest of the litter much cleaner for longer and I don’t actually have to completely dump the litter once a month and replace with a new batch. Saves me time and money. It’s also unscented and doesn’t easily get stinky or hold onto the stink once it’s been scooped clean. I hated how other litters would still stink even after it had been cleaned. Not a problem with this one. Only negative is that this stuff is super heavy so I need my husband to do the first pour out of a new bag. Maybe if the packaging had a handle or something it would be easier.

Best clumping cat litter ever!
I have tried just about every litter on the market of the "clumping" variety. I moved a year and a half ago from a home where I had lived with two cats for years. While helping me pack this huge house which was filled with way too much "stuff," my daughter and her husband both commented on all the dust on everything, especially everything close to the above-ground basement where the two litter boxes were placed. Both of them said the dust made them cough, and once I started paying attention, I realized that I was coughing myself every time I cleaned the litter boxes, and the coughing got worse from disturbing the dust going through and sorting and packing. Once I was in the house I rented, I tried two or three different clumping litters, but all of them had the same heavy perfume odor and there was dust from it everywhere, and about half an inch of dust in the bottom of the litter box at all times, so there is no wonder it was getting everywhere with the help of the cats digging and the stuff flying everywhere. Not only that, but the cats sometimes had "damp" paws, the dust would stick to the paws, and they were tracking cement-like trails across the laminate flooring - and the carpeting as well, though at least I could not SEE that! Then I bought a house and spent four months remodeling it. Once again, during the process of packing, we could all see the cat litter dust everywhere and smell that heavy perfume they use to mask odor. I decided that before I moved into my home with brand new everything, including floor tile, carpeting, blinds, etc., I was going to do some research and try to find a less irritating and dusty litter. My reasoning was that if it was making people cough, it could not be good for my cats to breathe it, either. and I had had more than enough of the dust and the "wet cement" paw marks! I decided to give Precious Cat a try, and this was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I am just sorry it took me so long to take the time and do the research. I have been using Precious Cat since the end of February. There is no perfume odor whatsoever, there is absolutely NO dust at all, the litter clumps as hard as a rock and never comes to pieces while being scooped, and for some reason, I seem to be adding litter to the boxes less frequently. I have not quite figured out the reason for this yet! Yes - it is pricey, but it is worth the price to me to get rid of that constant cloying smell and the dust everywhere all the time. At least Amazon has it now PRIME, which is a huge benefit, because I looked at Petco on-line and thought I had found a real deal. Wow! Forty pounds for $15.99! Then I got to checkout and the shipping was over $16.00! So back I came to blessed Amazon.com, and this is where I will purchase my Precious Cat Litter from now on. I will pay the higher price for such a high-quality litter, especially since I am using less of it than any other litter I have used in the past. Thanks for carrying Precious Cat, Amazon - and thanks for having it available PRIME, too. By the way, anyone who says the "pee balls" stick to the bottom of the box, try this: I lift one end of the box and drop it about 2 inches back to the floor, then tilt it away from me and repeat the process. This completely loosens the clumps and they are easy to scoop. I do this because I am 74 and the less time I spend being down on my knees cleaning litter boxes, the better off I am! I DID replace my litter boxes, because the ones I had were made of some weird kind of plastic that the clumps DID stick to. Remembering a Maine Coon cat breeder with a LOT of cats and kittens who used plastic tote bins without the lids, I bought two Rubbermaid Roughneck bins with 8" sides, tossed out the lids that came with them, and they are in use now as litter boxes and work great. The higher sides keep the litter from being thrown out with fastidious kitties getting carried away in the covering up process and flinging the litter about, and because one of my cats is a 17-pound Maine Coon female, she is VERY happy not to have to cram her big furry self, including her gorgeous long plume of a tail, into even the largest covered litter box I could find. We are ALL much happier with Precious Cat and new open-top litter boxes! And I must be honest - my first purchase of Precious Cat was NOT from Amazon, because at the time it was not PRIME and I got it cheaper elsewhere. Happily, this is not the case any longer.
