Basking Spot Lamp, 100 Watt, 80 x 100 mm

I purchased this bulb in hope it would simply do what is says on the box. My previous Exo terra bulbs decided to break. The first one physically exploded and the second one just didn’t work. It’s now 5 months down the line since purchasing the Trixie basking spot light and I’m ready to order a new one. Albert (my bearded dragon), is happy and healthy. I have the recommended vivarium size for a bearded dragon (4x2x2), and the bulb was originally located inside Alberts vivarium, however his basking area was getting too warm (120f+). After making some modifications to his vivarium (cutting a hole in the top of his viv and sitting the bulb holder on fixed mesh), his basking spot was reaching the ideal temperature (100-110f). Once I had this in the correct place, I noticed the difference in his personality, he appeared a lot happier. 5 months later and it’s still giving off the same heat. I’ll be ordering a new one shortly (as recommended). Overall, this is the best value bulb on the market, I can’t speak for other reptiles (lack of experience), but if you have a bearded dragon, this is a no brainier, you’ll pay double on the high street and receive half the quality of product. Update on 04/02/2020 - the bulb blew last week, I woke up at 9am and Albert looked very miserable. Ordered a new bulb.

After using Exo Terra bulbs for many years I decided to change brand simply because I noticed over the last year I literally went through 6 bulbs 🤬 The lifespan quality was atrocious and so I thought enough is enough. I read different reviews and looked online for better suggestions and by doing that I decided to buy this one by 'Trixie'. So what what's it like? Well it's early days yet but what I will say is the price is excellent and the beam it puts out seems so much brighter and warmer than my previous ones by 'Exo Terra' 😁 I'll add to this review once I can gauge how long it lasts but until then I'm definitely very pleased with my purchase. I used it for my toitoise tank for the winter to keep them warm , Needs to be s big tank or enclosure because its very warm 100w

These bulbs are generally pretty good however they don’t last very long. I’ve ordered multiple over the last 2 years, the majority have lasted anywhere up to 3 months but I have had a few that have lasted only a couple of weeks. Although they are a budget friendly option, the constant need to replace them obviously offsets that so it could be worth looking at more well known brands/more expensive bulbs as they usually come with a warranty of 1-2 years depending where you buy. During winter months, these didn’t let off that much heat either but should be sufficient for summer months or as a temporary option. Overall, a decent item on a budget BUT the longevity is questionable.

Nice big bulb. Strong. Plenty of warmth being bigger in diameter. Lizard quite happy. It has gone up 3 pound odd. Since from 5.45. For 100w Im not happy about that nearly 9 pound for a bulb. I don't see the justification for the increase. L

Ho usato molte luci diverse sport, e devo dire che questa non è per nulla male. Comparandola con le altre marche devo dire che il suo calore è perfetto per un drago barbuto. Poi dipende da quanta potenza ha la spot
