Benzedrex Nasal Decongestant Inhaler (Pack of 3)

PACKAGING The outer packaging is a tough nut to crack, and while child-safe, it's a bit of a challenge for adults, even with scissors. The inhaler itself is made of sturdy plastic and feels well made. SCENT/AROMA If you are accustomed to Vicks Inhalers, with their distinctive camphorous menthol and eucalyptus aroma, the Benzedrex inhaler will be a bit change for you. Lavender plays a starring role in this aromatic blend, backed with an ample dose of menthol, the overall effect is much more "aromatherapy" like, as opposed to Vicks' cool, purely medicinal notes. INGREDIENTS & EFFICACY The active ingredient in Benzedrex is propylhexidrine, a drug related structurally to methamphetamine (related does not mean 'same as'). When inhaled, it opens up the nasal passages and sinuses, relieving pressure and congestion. Vicks inhalers active ingredient is levmetamfetamine, also an amphetamine derivative that works in much the same way. In my experience Vicks and Benzedrex are about equally effective immediately after use, but Benzedrex works much much longer -- in the hours range versus minutes with Vicks, which also makes it a better value in my opinion. IT'S FOR YOU IF... - You want decongestant relief, but don't want to take anything in pill form, or want to give your oral decongestant an added boost - You like lavender, or can at least tolerate the scent - You are a Vicks inhaler user looking for a longer-lasting upgrade THINK TWICE IF... - You are opposed to buying online -- I live in a major metro area and have never seen Benzedrex carried at a pharmacy, though this may be a 'regional thing'. RECOMMENDED: Yes.

Holy cow these things reek. I was not prepared for the assault to my nostrils that these would be after being a long time user of the similar V's inhalers (which have been reformulated and no longer work for me). Some might like how these smell, but I cannot express how much I do not. That said, I still give these 5 stars because they really do help. There is a place I must visit every couple of weeks that never fails to set off my sinuses. The pressure and blockage are unbearable for days. Using these not only ease the symptoms as they are happening, they also reduce the time it takes for the irritation to settle down. I use this for a couple of days, and then I'm good until the next time.

The label says don't use for more than 3 days. Adhere to that warning because after a few days breathing problems worsen. I was scheduled for surgery to clear up breathing obstructions but before that needed some relief. Started using these sticks because their effect is almost instantaneous vs the liquid sprays that take a few minutes. After a week of use I was totally dependent on it. 30 minutes after application I couldn't breath again. Anyway, what I am trying to say is that if you are trying to fix everyday breathing problems find another way. Consult a nose and throat specialist. Otherwise, these sticks are really powerful and if you can get one full whiff it will clear your breathing for a few hours.

After being stuck with horrible allergies at my grandma's house for several days, I was stuck using afrin to sleep through the night and developed rebound congestion. Trying to wean off it was difficult. I was down to 1 spray in alternating nostrils, but still could not get lower then that and still suffered through the night long after I was back home. After some research I found a reference that Benzedrex does not have the rebound problem that Afrin and other decongestants can have. It is true. It helped me get past the rebound stuffiness. The downside is that it lasts two hours. So multiple doses are needed. But within 24 hours I started using the Benzedrex less and less until it was no longer needed and my congestion was gone. I now use Benzedrex as my first and only nasal decongestant. It blows open the nasal passages, and no rebound problems. If you are suffering with rebound nasal congestion brought on by other nasal sprays, this can get you off the never ending cycle. PS: I initially tried Vicks, and it did not do the trick. This is heads and tails stonger and more effective than the Vicks inhaler.

Dear Reader, I bought this product on the slight hope that it could help my condition. I've been hacking up loogies since gradeschool, a less than desirable trait I'm sure. Anyways I've tried this and that, changed my diet, avoided allergens, etch.. Nothing seemed to work. granted some things helped, but they took time or didn't really solve the problem. That is to say until I tried this product. It's like a nuclear warhead for your sinus. One whiff of this stuff then BAM AND THE DIRT IS GONE! Please Excuse my pun. I couldn't resist myself. It kind of smells like chlorine, and can burn at times. Frankly I'd sniff pepper spray if it did the job though. The instructions say's it lasts two hours, but I just uses it two or three times a day. I keep it my car, and use it between classes, on the way to work, etch. The only downfall of this product is that it's absolutely ineffective if you are 100% blocked off. What I mean is if you can get any air through your nose, than your obviously not going to be able to inhale this through it. This beats my Netti pot (which doesn't work for me, because I can't get water from one nostril to the other). What I like best about it though is that it does NOT dry up your nose. Yes you will have to cough more crap up / blow it out. However on the plus side your nose doesn't get all itchy and full of dried stuff. One package contains 3 units. One unit lasts for 3 months. So let's do some math here. I bought this for about $15. divide that by three units. Ok so were at $5 per unit now. Divide each unit per month. That's about $1.66 dollars per month. I've been using this for about a month now, and have been telling all of my family & friends about it's "magic." In fact I'm going to buy a pack for gifts. I'm cheap though so each person can have one tube. Hey I usually don't buy gifts so they can count themselves as lucky. I have been using these Benzedrex inhalers for over 30 years and have never had a problem with them. They easily beat taking drugs or OTC meds for a little stuffiness. Yes, they can become habit forming like nearly everything else, but I keep them handy...kind of like reading glasses...one pair downstairs, one pair upstairs, one pair in the car...etc. Keeping the cap on tightly helps with effective longevity. The relief is instantaneous and lasts a good while providing you aren't down with a bad cold. For general purposes and even helping you get to sleep without snorting like a hog in heat, I highly recommend these! Amazon has the best prices, too!

Due to chronic nasal congestion, I have used Benzedrex Inhalers for years. They are the only kind that really help. This is the second time I have ordered them through Amazon as they have become more and more difficult to find locally. As far as I can tell, they are exactly the same product that I have always purchased, but they are less expensive and the mail service has been excellent. When I ordered them most recently, the information stated that they would arrive in roughly a week, however they came the next day. You can't beat that! I highly recommend this product and mail order service to anyone with chronic nasal congestion.

This is simply the best nasal decongestant inhaler on the market. It clears up my sinuses immediately. I’ve noticed that I get a sore throat when I use it a lot. But when I use it a lot it’s because I simply can’t breathe through my nose without it. Nothing else would clear up my sinuses. A little hoarseness in my throat is way better than not being able to breathe. When I use it less often there are no side effects and even better results
