enjoyable .a well written, rollicking, clean book.
A great book for all ages , say 8 and up. Very moral . Book is about. Early Norse fighting men and pirates. Lots of action so you canβt put it down. Ask my wife. I will buy more for Kindle when they go on sale, say $4.00 or less.

Some of Flanagan's Best Work
After 'The Outcasts', I didn't have huge hopes for the next book in this series. I didn't see how Flanagan could even attempt to keep a cohesive story while driving the young crew of the Heron out of their homeland, Skandia. I also thought the book would be, well, dead, from the emotional side, since the Herons are now a crew that has teamwork down to a science. There wouldn't be any problems from the performance side of the crew and I couldn't see how he [the author] could insert that layer of emotions that cushions the story in general. But then Flanagan put Lydia in the picture. In a crew of adolescent males, a girl's presence can spring many emotional traps, ranging from self-consciousness to full-blown jealousy.Of course, the fighting chapters are as vivid and realistic as any Flanagan piece. The ship talk is as accurate as ever (I checked), and, despite my earlier misgivings, the emotional levels were deeper than I ever expected.VBG

Great continuing series
After reading the Ranger's Apprentice, I was excited to learn that John Flanagan had another series set within the same time and area with familiar characters. In this book, Will and his crew help a town out while in pursuit of the villian who took the stone. The way that Will comes up with plans is great and well thought out. Plus, it's nice that there's another strong female character that comes in. Hopefully, that doesn't give away too much information. What I liked about this book: Flanagan always expands and has his characters grow in personality and knowledge, the relationships you see between each character, the well thought out plan of how the characters get to their goal and how he sets up the book. What I didn't like about the book: nothing. Overall, I love this series and I can't wait for the next one to come out.

John Flanagan ,the author , sweeps you back in time so smoothly that time stands still.
Read the series ! Fun, factual, growing up as a viking. Start with book one the outcasts. Book two the invaders. Book three is the hunters . Well written, a great adventure, young teens both boys and girls will love it.

Great for my 11 yr old boy!
What a wonderful book. This is book 2 in this series. My 11 year old really enjoys this series as well as the Rangers Apprentice series! I too have read some (not all) of the series and find them intriguing. They are not too complicated or hard to follow. I'm no expert but would say a middle school aged child should be able to read these well. It does contain an occasional curse word (such as damn). The content is appropriate for middle school aged children. There is some fighting and things of that nature. This is a great series. We have not been disappointed by a John Flanagan book yet!

Another great read
Putting it simply, I LOVE John FlanaganHis books aren't meaningful or thought-provoking but they are always fun, humorous and well-written and Invaders is no exception. The book is action-packed and funny and seamlessly moves on from the first book, no matter how old you get, you'll find something to love in the adventures of Hal and his team of misfits.I recommend this book for anyone from 6 to the late teens, it is perfect for someone who likes adventure and a bit of fantasy but doesn't want to plough through a dark, 500-page affair like Lord of the Rings. On a different note I also highly recommend the Rangers Apprentice books if you are here because you liked the first brotherband book, they are a similar setting but still entertaining in the extreme.

Amusing book
My son read this book for his English class and liked it really well. It builds on adventures from the first book, so it would be good to read that one first. This is more adventure-like than the first one, which is more about the relationship between the boys. A great way to continue after The Apprentice.

Again another page turner
Filled to the brim with adventure, battles, brotherhood and quirky banter! The second installment lived up to its predecessor s the story venture further south. The herons are all showing great character development and it's easy to get absorbed into their story. Now time for book 3 π
