Perfect for soups, stews and curries that you don't want to have to pick whole herbs and spices out of!

This works OK as a replacement for a muslin bag for infusing a dish with tough or strong-tasting spices which you don't want to leave in the food after cooking. However, unlike a traditional muslin bag or bouquet garni, the spoon's instructions explicitly state that it's not to be left in the food while cooking. So as long as you are stirring, you can infuse the flavour, but most people won't want to keep stirring for the whole time that the thing is cooking.Couple that with the fact that the cover is a bit flimsy (when I opened it for the first time, it dropped off), and the herb strippers are more trouble than they're worth, and this doesn't seem a particularly worthwhile kitchen aid. On the plus side, it does look quite nice, it doubles up as a straining spoon, and it has saved my wife from her worst nightmare of biting into a cardamom pod. It's also, at six quid, cheaper than I would expect from Joseph Joseph, although still not particularly cheap in the grand scheme of things. I would be very unlikely to buy one of these for myself, although having had the opportunity to review it for Amazon, I am quite glad to have it around the kitchen.

Der Löffel war als Geschenk gedacht weil er recht praktisch aussah. Als er ankam war ich sehr begeistert von der Verarbeitung und dem Aussehen. Bisher kam er oft zum Einsatz und die neue Besitzerin ist mehr als begeistert! Toller Löffel zum kochen, allerdings nicht für große Mengen geeignet!

Gift for my mother who loves cooking, it's the ONLY gift she immediately took out to use, haha! She put spices in it for a soup and was so pleased that she didn't have to fish out anymore bay leaves and other herbs which add flavor but otherwise you wouldn't necessarily want to eat. I think it would also be perfect to make gluhwein with.
