Works great for all knives & scisors that I've tried
This sharpener is sturdy and solid with an excellent hand-hold and non-skid base. It can take a really dull blade and and bring it back to sharpness. Slot 2 is course and can take off a lot of metal, so it will bring a dull blade back into shape. Go easy on it with a good blade - just a few light strokes. The instructions say to only use slot 3 when sharpening a ceramic knife. The instructions are a bit contradictory, though. It says use slots 2, 3, and 4 for "wavy knives." At the bottom of the page it talks about using ONLY Slot 3 for ceramic knives, and then says "Do not use this sharpener for serrated knives and scissors." Even though the "headline" description says it can be used for serrated knives. I'm guessing they are making a distinction between a really-small-tooth serrated knife, and a large-tooth serrated knife like a big carving knife. I've used it on my carving knife and it works fine - I just draw the blade slowly so that all of the curved edges get sharpened.

The knife sharpeners work great. The scissors sharpener did not work well for me, so I ended up running the scissors in the knife sharpening slots and that worked pretty well.

Sharpened these old, hopeless scissors! Must have for sewing.
I sew, craft and have a home business. I have scissors everywhere. I decided to stop buying more scissors or tempting fate with a hand-held whetstone (hint; not effective or smart). I saw this reasonably-prices sharpener and decided to try it. The blue scissors in the photos are at least ten years old. They were in the back of a drawer because they were useless. They barely cut through the piece of box cardboard in the photo. (See the scratches on the blade? Whetstone fail. Don't do it.) I was concerned that the sharpener would slide around while I pulled the scissors through. It stayed in place, did not slide at all and felt very secure. Those scissors were so bad I had to do a second sharpening series (pull through six times each). Afterward, they cut right through the cardboard. I'm surprised at how well this simple tool works. I have an old, dull set of steak knives. They're next.

My new fav thing in the kitchen ๐
Received this item as date expected, and as i wasnt home that day i asked my boyfriend to try it on right away. First he was impressed with the labels 1-4 of this sharpener. He was like โiโve never seen this one beforeโ, and even more happy when he did used it to sharpened a knife. So when i came home i tried and see it for myself. The item is exactly as whats in the post. Thought it was heavy or atleast has some weight, but to my surprise it is so light and do amazing job for knives and scissors. I swear, ive took out all Knives and scissors i got and took a pic of the last set ive sharpened. Im happy and satisfied. Good item for the value. ๐ Thank you x

Good with limitations and weak instrictions.
This is a decent sharpener but it has a serious drawback. It is unable to sharpen large scissors such as 10 or 12 inch and larger dressmaker shears. Openings for these size scissors is not wide enough to acclimate the blades. I was unable to insert the whole blade into the sharpener. It would be helpful if the seller described the maximum blade width. Also, it is not weighed like old standard, Sanford's. Lastly, poor photocopy of directions was included which was so light as to be almost unreadable. According to the internet, most small scissors can be sharpened simply by cutting through 7-8 shirts thickness of aluminum foil.

Not for sharpening serated edge knives
Works well on stainless steel regular knives. Not so good on serated edge knives. Not so good on sizzors.

This sharper is wonderful itโs two in one
This sharper is wonderful itโs two in one. You could get a great sharp on your knives, getting dull large or small. Very durable easy to use. You may want to buy two one for the kitchen and one for the crafting person. I had some scissors, I was getting ready to throw out. But when I tried it for my scissors. I couldnโt believe it . It was like a brand new pair the sharper is great. For that blade you use to fillet the fish is great. Double purpose is a winner. Knifes and scissors sharpen with ease.
