If i mixed a very small amount of this with henna - 90% henna to 10% indigo would it go a browny red or just a darker gingery colour?

you need to mix the same amount of indigo and henna to get a brownish red colour

would this work for dying beard gray hair please?

If you want brown you need to mix with henna powder,the darker you want it to more indigo you need to add, but you do need henna as well.

It says in the description you should dye hair with henna first ?. So I’m assuming you have to buy something else to go with it ?

Yes, it’s better to apply Henna first ( I mix it with olive oil, lemon juice, 2 yolks and lard - cuz my hair is dry) - keep it on for min 1- 2 hours. Rinse ur hair and apply the Indigo, mixed with lemon juice and warm water- I keep it for 2 hours to get black colour. In this way the colour lasts for much longer, especially if you use colour protection shampoo/ conditioner. When I use the mixture of both ( still add the olive oil, yolks etc.) the colour washes within 2 weeks. To me, henna is must on its own as feed my hair - makes it shiny and healthy. I think it will turn more blue than green because its indigo.
