Why is it so hard to live well amidst the chaos and noise? While you might think this is a problem of the modern world, it's a timeless issue. 2000 years ago, the ancient Stoics talked about the exact same challenges we're facing today, like: How can we find inner peace? What does it take to be happy? Can we become more resilient? The answers can be found in the philosophy of Stoicism. I've used the philosophy since 2014 to change my life and career. Focus on What Matters is a collection of 70 letters/essays I wrote about different aspects of life, from happiness, wealth, health to relationships and much more. These letters, inspired by the original works of the Stoic philosopher Seneca, serve as reminders to focus on the right things in our chaotic lives. The goal of the original "Letters From A Stoic" by Seneca was to share Stoic ideas with his friend, Lucilius, who had hedonistic tendencies and lived a busy life. Focus on What Matters is inspired by those letters. It will show you.. Simple thought exercises to become resilient and focused How to live in the present moment every day Authentic Stoic values for a life of happiness A way to build more discipline In short, this book helps you to live well despite the challenges of daily life. Review: Focus on what matters - An amazing book for anyone who wants to explore Stoicism. I loved how the concepts are explained in such simple and easy language, making it perfect for beginners. Practical, relatable, and definitely worth reading. Review: Excellent packing - Excellent book very knowledgeable

“A Gentle Reminder to Focus on What Truly Matters
This book is one of those rare reads that stays with you long after you put it down. The message is simple yet profound — life becomes clearer, calmer, and more fulfilling when we stop chasing every distraction and learn to focus on what truly matters. The writing is straightforward and relatable, filled with practical wisdom that feels easy to apply in everyday life. While reading, I often caught myself reflecting on my own habits and priorities. It made me realise how much of my energy goes into things that don’t really add value, and how much peace comes from paying attention to the present and cherishing what’s important. The real beauty of this book is how it inspires change without being preachy — it feels more like a friend gently guiding you back to balance. If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed or searching for clarity, this book is a must-read. It doesn’t just motivate you for a while; it shifts the way you think and helps you live with more intention and focus.

Focus on What Matters: A Stoic Guide with Some Misses
Darius Foroux's "Focus on What Matters" aims to introduce the ancient Stoic philosophy to modern readers seeking a more fulfilling life. While I found valuable nuggets of wisdom within its pages, I ultimately landed on a 3-star rating due to a few shortcomings. Strengths: Foroux's writing style is clear and engaging. He avoids overly academic language, making the book accessible to a broad audience. The Stoic principles themselves hold timeless value. The emphasis on controlling your reactions, practicing gratitude, and focusing on what you can control resonated with me. The book offers practical exercises and prompts to help readers apply Stoic principles in their daily lives. Weaknesses: Some sections felt repetitive. The core principles are reiterated throughout, which might be helpful for reinforcement but could bore readers seeking deeper exploration. The historical context of Stoicism could have been fleshed out more. While the book mentions key figures, a richer historical background would give readers a deeper understanding of the philosophy's evolution. The personal anecdotes, while relatable, often felt one-dimensional. Sharing more diverse experiences or showcasing how different individuals apply Stoicism could have broadened the book's appeal. Overall Impression: "Focus on What Matters" serves as a good introduction to Stoicism, particularly for those unfamiliar with the philosophy. The clear writing and practical exercises make it easy to digest. However, those seeking a more nuanced exploration of Stoicism or expecting profound insights might find it lacking. I recommend it with the caveat that it provides a starting point rather than an in-depth exploration.
