Product has prooved to be a dependable and reliable with no hidden costs
I bought the wristband for my elderly mother 18 months ago and only now replacing the band. There are no hidden costs, the system is easy to setup and has prooved to be reliable week in week out. When my mother fell outside her house the system automatically contacted me, enabling an ambulance to be called within minutes of the accident. My mothers condidence in the system enables her to continue to live independantly.

Peace of Mind
Having an elderly mother living alone has always been a worry for us, especially after a fall during the night recently left her unable to get up and contact anyone. Fortunately she was ok after this incident but it got me worrying about what could have happened. So I did some research to see what technology was available that help if something like this happened again. This is when I discovered the Acticheck wristband system. After discussing with my brother we decided that it was the best option. A simple, no complications wrist band that could be worn all day, that had 1 year battery life (so no messing around charging it) and that was completely waterproof and generally robust. We set the system up using the clear instructions and found a suitable location for the base unit and performed the clever range check the system incorporates, to help ensure the system works all around the house and garden. We then configured the various responder phone numbers and tested them. We configured the “I’m ok” request to buzz the wristband once a day in the morning, and all Mum has to do is simply press one of the side buttons to acknowledge. And that’s all she has to do. Just wear the band and leave the rest to technology. We receive an email every morning with a status update and a quick look on the Acticheck portal shows that Mum is up and about and going about her business, safe in the knowledge that should she need help she just has to press and hold the two buttons together, and the system will do the rest. It’s a very clever bit of kit that has given our family peace of mind.

Peace of mind at a reasonable cost
This is quite a good bit of kit. Easy to set up and fairly comfortable for my 86 year old mother. She wears it all the time and it works. I get a message telling me she's up and about, we've had one warning which, upon investigation, was false alarm....but a welcome one as it proved the thing was working. Just had a call from the vendor doing an aftersales follow up, which was ace. For sub 300 quid this is a worthy expenditure to keep an eye on my mum.

Really easy to set up and flexible for changing needs
Got this for my Dad after my Mum died because I was worried about him living by himself even though we're only just up the road. It was so easy to set up. The instructions were written in plain English and really easy to understand. My Dad (77), who only just got his own email address (!) said "even he" could have set it up by himself! It's great peace of mind for me, as I can check on him using the dashboard and I know he can trigger an alert if he falls or needs help and can't get to the phone. I also like the fact that there are additional features that he doesn't feel he needs at the moment but can be toggled on and off and the fall detection sensitivity adjusted for use in the future if he needs them. Makes it great value for money because it saves buying a different product if his needs change. He has noticed a slight rash on the wrist he was wearing it after a few days, which may be genetic, as I also developed a sensitivity to my silicon Fitbit strap, but he's solved this for now by regularly swapping the wrist on which he wears it

Very Impressed and a Great Piece of Mind
After I found out that my mum had taken a fall at home and said nothing to anyone, which is worrying as she lives at home by herself and doesn't have man visitors, I decided that some sort of monitoring was needed. The wristband detects a fall or a knock and then sends out alerts. First to the wristband, then calls the home phone, and finally to designated people. It jumps from one alert level to the next if it doesn't get a response. The base station also monitors the room temperature and can send out e-mail alerts. The wristband is a sealed waterproof device and you need to buy a new one when the battery runs out, which I was told lasts about 1yr. You can have multiple wristbands on the same base station. Mum was a bit reluctant at first, but has gotten used to it and understands our concerns about her safety. It gives us an amazing piece of mind and is well worth the investment.

Not working as well as I had hoped.
The strap length needs more options, one setting is way too tight, the next along and the watch slides round my dads wrist. It constantly tells me it’s not heard from my Dad and it’s not connected, when it’s plugged in and his sat in the other room, this some times happens 4-5 times a day. The morning alarms don’t seem to work all the time. I’m not sure if there is a setting to stop it calling my Dad first when it’s activated but he answers it and then it never goes any further.. my Dads not tech savvy and struggles with his phone so this interrupts the call coming to me or my siblings. I will stick with it and continue to work with it, as all my dad needs to understand is he needs to press both buttons to get me to turn up, but all the other features arnt working as well as I had hoped.

Great device, highly recommend
My aunt has been using her Acticheck for around 18 months. She finds it easy to use, and finds the annual replacement battery quick and straightforward. My family like the online dashboard feature, which we use to see if she's awake without disturbing her. It has also been useful to show Doctors in her check ups. The extra I'm OK checks are great. The wristband vibrates at 9am each morning and if she doesn't confirm she is OK by pressing a button, we get a call to check on her. I haven't seen this feature offered on other devices. I think this is the best value for money device on the market, so I have just purchased a second system for another relative. Could not recommend more highly.

Rubbish
Purchased one of these for my elderly mother today. Trying to set it up - absolute nightmare, the website to link the watch is like a website from 1998. And the app is useless. They need to sort their software out, not user friendly in any way and too complicated. I’ve no idea why this has any good reviews. Will be sent back to Amazon tomorrow.
