Arrived defective, but GREAT customer service
Arrived defective. My IT people advised me to send it back, which I did. That was a major hassle because it contains a battery and could not be returned, but the seller quickly responded and sent an RMA and return label and it went back. My IT people told me it is a good product when it works right and recommended that I buy it again. So I did, but the price went up by $16. Not happy, but I have not given it one star because they were quick to send the return instructions. I will try again and hope for better luck this time. It is intended to protect a server. I like the fact that my IT experts can monitor it without physically coming in. I suppose this is a back door into my system, but I find it very useful. Hopefully the next one will work properly. I will update this after the new one is installed. ADDENDUM: This is a story of 5-star customer support. The product is good. I am not an expert and I do not have much to say about this product, except that it was recommended by my IT experts. The product was ordered on August 17 and arrived defective on September 1. Amazon currently takes about 2 weeks to deliver this item. One feature is that it can be connected to an outside IT monitoring service, and this did not work. So I went to Amazon to start a return. Amazon said that this product was not eligible for a return. What? $450 product and I could not return it? Was I stuck with a defective product? So, through Amazon, I found a way to contact the seller. Within an hour they issued an RMA and instructions for a return. We followed the instructions and returned it. I commented that I would like a replacement, but did not receive any confirmation that I would get a replacement. So I assumed I would get a refund. My IT experts still said that this was a good product and to order it again. It was highly recommended to protect my expensive server and we were seeing power outages due to unusual 112F high temperatures. So, on September 3rd I went to Amazon and re-ordered the same item again. I was disappointed to see that the price had increased. Within a short time the new Smart UPS arrived. The IT experts installed it and said that it was working properly with no problems. I waited a few days and saw no refund. So I sent an email to the seller to ask when I would get my refund. They replied quickly to tell me that they had sent a replacement and that there was no refund. They sent the tracking number to prove it. I researched the tracking number and found that we had received and installed the replacement, and that the new Amazon order was still on its way. The seller had shipped the replacement the day after they issued the RMA, and before they had actually received my return! So, now I realized that I was going to have 2 of these and I only wanted one! The seller told us to refuse delivery when the 2nd one came. It has not arrived yet (Sept 22). So, I am hoping that the seller has managed to turn the delivery in progress around. The seller has been amazing with quick replies to my emails and prompt service throughout this episode. I highly recommend them. 5-star recommendation.

Very Substantial
Can't beat these SmartUPS units. They just work. Relatively easy to configure if you have some technical know-how. I have a couple others in service. And my IT guy just dropped an additional one in recently. They just quietly and cheerfully do their jobs. Always have performed well during power inconsistencies. If you want a nice, full featured UPS that just does the business, this might be an option for you. I'm upset that APC discontinued this particular line though. Debating getting my final required one sooner rather than later. Overall, very happy nonetheless!

Don't get your hopes up with the built in NIC
This one may have been on me, but this should be discussed anyway. There are magnitudes of data that never touch the internet. These systems exist in manufacturing processes and there is a gap between them and the internet because even if a business system goes down manufacturing should continue if only because big machines do not care for hard stops. It releases the magic smoke more often than not when they do. That preamble is because this is NOT a network attached UPS. If you put it on your network it will pull an IP. You can go to your router and confirm that IP and then even try to navigate to it, and you will get nothing. That NIC is for the systems cloud connectivity where you can manage all of your UPS on APC's website. You can use the USB/Serial interface to connect to the UPS locally (or if you're really fancy with USB over IP) using the PowerChute Business Edition software, but there really isn't much to do there. If you really want to manage this thing you'll need their cloud service and if this UPS only exists to allow for a safe shutdown of a smaller machine (say some pieces of quality control equipment) you do not want it. It also runs Java and if you look up "log4j APC" it has been patched, for now. 3 stars to tech support, I haven't tried them so I'm not going to weigh one way or the other. Over all, it's a big beefy battery that will allow for ample shut down time. If you wanted something you could manage independently, maybe APC isn't the best name in the business anymore if cloud is a requirement when all I need to know is if diags says my battery is a paperweight.

Wouldn't be without it!
I have two of these. One powers my two Linux servers, cable modem, router, Ethernet switches, etc. in my basement. The other powers my "everyday" Windows PC in my bedroom, as well as my bedside clock and my CPAP machine. I bought the second one after a power glitch killed my unprotected CPAP machine. Now my replacement CPAP machine is protected from surges and will keep running even when my utility power fails. I'll never go back!

Works as intended
Haven't had a power outage yet but I've been using it for a couple of weeks now and so far so good. I didn't use the app I just plugged my computer and internet equipment into it and just use the front panel for info. I don't see a need for an app for my application. Mainly it's a backup for my modem, router and Synology media server.

DO NOT BUY IT. Terrible quality.
DO NOT BUY IT! It worked for barely 8 months . We had a power outage, it worked for 2 hours and never recharged again. We requested product assistance and since it was after 6 months company selling it told us they would provide assistance as long as we paid for shipping. We paid $150 to ship it back and we never received feedback. It is a very expensive product to have such a short shelf life life. Terrible quality.

It's a UPS, and it works
I purchased this for my home office to protect my sensitive equipment, as my previous UPS (non APC brand) died. I decided to try a refurbished unit this time, which is something I usually are not comfortable with, but so far so good. The unit arrived on time, and was very securely packed. It also passed all selftests, and does not look like it has been used. The only giveaway is the lack of printed documentation and/or a cd with manuals and Powerchute software. That's no big deal, all of that is available at APC's site anyway - and honestly, if there was a cd included it would just be sitting in a drawer collecting dust once I have copied what I need off of it, I'll get 1.5 to 2 hours of runtime with my normal load.

ok but I had some connection issues.
Unit does not stay connected when plugged into the usb 3.0 port on my computer, seems to be ok with the usb 3.1 port.
