Worth a watch for JC fans!
I really like Jennifer Connelly as an actress. I thought I knew all of her movies so when this one popped up I was intrigued. I had never heard of it. After watching, I would say about the only redeeming thing about Etoile is JC's performance. She lit up the screen even back then! This is a DVD but the mastering is amazing! I would argue it would look no better on Blu Ray considering the age of the movie and the fact that it was mastered and color corrected last year. No surround sound. Only 2.0. No subtitles. The ballet dancing in this movie is excellent. Apparently JC didn't do all of her dancing, only close-ups. Had me fooled! I was watching the movie saying to myself "JC must have been doing ballet for years before filming!" Nope ballet double. LolHope this helped. I rarely write reviews, but I felt compelled to do this one.

A parallel Swan Lake while interpreting the Lake Swan. Underrated Great Movie from Jennifer Connelly
A great underrated movie from Jennifer Connelly. As some of the users that have mentioned it, when you have seen also, The Black Swan, you may understand that inspiration came from the same source for both. However in the case of Etoile, a lot of traps are set between the story, creating a parallel and lookalike Swan Like drama is ocurring, A plot full of mistery, sort of Darkness and a great script. A must to have not only for Connelly Fans but for Swan Lake ones!

Decent supernatural drama
Not the best movie of it's kind, but Jennifer Connelly sparkles on screen and the story is interesting enough to hold interest. Recommended just for its unique nature, but again, there are other films similar to this that execute plot and character development in a more fleshed out way.

Great
I love thrillers/supernatural/horror. This fits the mold. It reminds me of many different films. The Red Shoes, Vertigo, even Phantom of the Opera to some extent. It’s a giallo. If you’re expecting some huge Hollywood production, look elsewhere.
