Works as expected.
Works as described, no pops/clicks when switched while connected to a phantom powered mic. This unit does not mute, it lowers the volume by 30db or so (not measured). It is used as an active cough switch for a podcaster... giving the person an opportunity to turn away from the mic and cough while depressing the button. The button/switch is cheap, and slightly noisy, but works for us.The unit was taken apart to change the switch to be a momentary push. Instructions to do so were included and easy to follow.

Excellent device. Quiet, solid build
I had another model Rolls switch, which was push and hold to mute. I just bought this one and swapped it out, so I can leave the mic muted as long as I like. Solid metal box, decent weight to it, the switch it quiet and produced no audible noise on the mic channel. Exactly what I needed.

A Solid Product
I shopped around for several weeks before buying this device. I had considered building one instead of buying this one. However, it would not have been as nice and well made as this product. It works exactly as I had hoped. We use two of these during our radio show and would buy another of it were needed. It has some weight t o it, so you don't have to worry that it is a lightweight little box. It has the inherent feel of a real piece of tech equipment, not a wanna be toy. No noise to operate, and the mic goes silent... exactly like it should.

Poor Quality
Worked well for about 2 days. Then the button gets stuck and you can't tell if its on or off. Again, no LED light to tell if it is muted or not. Will not buy again or recommend.

It works, but has some usability flaws.
The good news is it does work and does not generate noise on the line. As a mechanical switch, it does audibly click though, so if there are other open mics nearby that sound can easily get picked up.It's an aesthetic issue, but I really dislike the wobbly, long travel button on this unit. For occasional use, maybe it wouldn't matter, but punching down the clunky button over and over gets old fast. I'd be much happier with a low-profile, short travel keyboard style button instead. I realize that the tall button is a simple way to see what state the device is in, but there are ways of dealing with that.Second, it's great that it can be modified into a momentary switch, but the method of doing that is incredibly fiddly and nearly impossible to reverse. I almost sent this out the window trying to coax a tiny bit back into some obscure position with no good reference points.

Switch tends to go bad over time.
I've had this mic switch for about a year now, and the switch is starting to be unreliable. At first it was perfect, though it triggers very high in the switch's throw so if I fiddle with the button it would cause the mic to either cut out or cut in. (Based on the selector switch.)Now, I can see my levels meter jumping in and out as I press the switch down, and if I am trying to mute by holding the button down, small movements in my finger will cause it to jump back in for a split second. Once I thought I had myself fully muted to clear my throat, only to see the whole thing go straight through full volume.I have a 1,000g weight I can plonk down on it and get a reliable on/off behavior, but one really nice thing about this switch is how accessible and user modifiable it is. If I can find the same button, or another one that fits the same hole, I can fix it. Actually I was considering putting a small relay there instead, and controlling with a foot switch or more lightweight microswitch, located further from the audio chain.

Does the job you expect
This mic mute switch has several reviews here and elsewhere that bring up a few criticisms. I bought it knowing its potential faults and after testing and using it, I have to say it does a nice job at its price point.Yes, it does make a mechanical click sound that can be heard on mic. This can be mitigated by positioning the mic switch so it is outside the mic's polar pattern. Also, if the button is pressed slowly and partially there is no mechanical sound.Yes, it does make a slight electrical pop sound sometimes when the button is pressed. All my tests were with a condenser mic on 48 volt power. I say 'sometimes' because mostly it does not make any electrical click sound and is totally electrically silent. It seems if the button is pressed slowly it is less likely to pop than if the button is pressed rapidly. I slowly pressed the button maybe a hundred times to mute the mic signal and it seemed to pop once every 4 or 5 presses. It also matters how long between presses as to if it will pop or not. But mostly it is dead silent.A few comments were made that this switch does not totally mute the mic signal and this is true. I pressed the button then yelled loudly and coughed and on playback I could hear my loud voice and the cough faintly in the background. As others have said I would agree signal was attenuated by about 50 dB which is a lot.Lastly, I did open the cover and change the switch from latching to momentary and left it that way to make it a true cough button. It is a little tricky getting the cover off but can be done.So for $45 this unit is the best mute button out there. The only way you will get one better, that absolutely never clicks or pops, and totally kills the signal when the button is pressed, is to buy a pro broadcast version for $900.

Works well
We have had this for about 2 months of baseball season. Our PA announcer LOVES it. I have read about the reliability, but we will see how it holds up. Also, don't know about the bleed since we use it for PA and it would be too quiet to hear anyway. The case is solid and it was fairly easy to change to momentary on. Default is locking on/off.

Has some shortcomings for stage use
Mutes the microphone as you would expect. However, It’s impossible to tell if the switch is up or down if you are wearing shoes. If they could change the switch to give you some kind of feedback it would be a five out of five.

Device is built well but fails to perform it's one job, pops audio interface/mixer
The switch does cut the audio but it also makes a pop sound in my audio interfaces and mixers every time it's pushed down and let go. Tried it with a number of things, always makes a pop. I have it set to momentary not latched, so... Device is built well but fails to perform it's one job.

Four Stars
Nice switch works well, but an indicator would help as to whether the switch is depressed or not...

Stopped working after 3 months
I've been using the MicSwitch on a regular basis since I got it, but it just died on me after 3 months of usage which is very disappointing. It makes a huge white noise and button doesn't work anymore. Just too late to get a replacement on Amazon :-(
