iOptronAZ Mount Pro Head Only, 33lbs Capacity

First, I've been working with the people at SkyViewUSA for years. I bought the less expensive starter version of this mount, known as the "Cube A", and they helped me learn to use it. Their office and my house are a mile apart, so I have had a personal relationship with them.I finally decided to take the plunge and upgrade to its big brother. The advertising says you can level it, turn it on, and position one star, and you can seek anything in the sky. This is completely accurate. It's a joy to use, and its weight capacity -- of 33 pounds -- will hold most scopes popular with amateurs.What is most impressive about this purchase, though, is that SkyViewUSA precision-tuned the mount before sending it to me. There are a few settings, including gear tension, that are difficult for an amateur to set. Having the mount pre-tuned was very much appreciated!

After inspecting the iOptron AZ mount upon receiving it, I determined that it was a used unit, so I returned it.

Best investment in my astronomy hobby in years,Level and go works pretty much as advertised but the real highlight is that once your target (mine is the sun) is acquired the tracking is good enough for some great astrophotography. Expensive yes it is... but if you are serious about your hobby this is a great investment to enjoy your hobby more.The only downside to my purchase was I bought this thinking I would be able to use it with my existing tripods.... I have 3, but no ioptron has made this to be used on their tripods and piers only so my best advice is if you don’t already have an ioptron tripod or pier buy this mount packaged with one....

Easiest real mount on the market to my knowledge. If you want the easiest mount to get aligned and ready to look at stuff but this. You won't be disappointed unless you are a hardcore imager. I'm an amateur this tracks better than my AVX and CGE personally

This is one of those rare products that works even better than I expected it to. The key is leveling it perfectly, which takes a little getting used to but once it's mastered, this little guy unerringly finds and tracks its targets--it's like magic. Re tripods: you could of course get one of several IOPTRON tripods, but if you do, it probably makes sense to buy them as part of a package deal; several packages are available. I spent the extra money and got an ultra-lightweight Avalon T-pod 110 with an Ioptron adapter; the accompanying picture shows the setup with an old C-8. Did I mention that levelling is important?
