This is the COLD water side. It is easier to install that I thought.
This part, 45883000, is for the COLD water side. (Part 45882000 is for the HOT water side) Nothing about the left- or right-ness in the descriptions helps at all! I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to install this myself, but, it turned out to be a breeze. Things you need to know: The original will be "frozen" in place after a few years. You'll need to use a wrench with some initial muscle. IMPORTANT: While turning the obvious nut on the original valve, you must hold the ENTIRE fixture from under the sink so it doesn't rotate with your motion to remove the old valve, or while installing the new valve -- the fixture will rotate otherwise, and you'll break/kink/rupture the flex hoses attaching it to the water. This part already comes with a rubber gasket/washer attached at the thread (so, don't panic after you've installed it and forgot to look). I recommend using white teflon tape on the threads, but you don't have to.

Excellent Replacement
We have an older Grohe lavatory faucet that had extreme mineral buildup, not allowing the faucet to be operated smoothly. This replacement valve was an exact fit and the resulting facet turns smoothly as it did when it was originally installed 23 years ago. Thank you. Highly recommend this unit.

This cartridge is for Grohe faucet right valve ( cold water ). Use plumbers grease to install this cartridge to prolong its life.

Know the exact Grohe Replacement part Number - "Hand (left/Right) "Closing (Clockwise/Anticlockwise)
There were too many Grohe Valves to choose from. The "finish" was not important. Not easy to choose the correct cartridge.
