Significant usability upgrades over Gen 1. Great for portability, but keep your external speakers
Having used the 1st generation of The Freestyle, I was curious to see if the Gen 2 lived up to the hype. After testing it in various environments, here is my objective comparison and experience: • Improved Performance: The most noticeable upgrade is the interface speed. The Gen 1 often felt sluggish, but the Gen 2 is much more responsive. The auto-focus and auto-keystone sensors are still top-tier and incredibly convenient—true "set it and forget it" functionality. • Design & Portability: This is where the Freestyle still dominates. Compared to traditional, bulky projectors, its aesthetics and portability are unmatched. It’s light enough to move around the house or take on trips without any hassle. • Picture Quality: As shown in the attached video, it's still not intended for bright environments. However, in a dark room, the picture quality is excellent even when projected directly onto a plain wall without a dedicated screen. • The Downside - Audio: Despite being a "Gen 2," the built-in speaker hasn't seen a significant leap. It’s functional for casual YouTube clips, but for a true cinematic experience, the audio lacks depth and bass. I highly recommend pairing it with an external Bluetooth speaker or soundbar. Verdict: If you can catch this at a discount, it's a solid upgrade from Gen 1. It’s the perfect lifestyle projector for those who value convenience and design over a permanent home theater setup.

Great Projector, bang for buck when on sale!
Bought Used Like New for $350. Total steal! Great picture quality and decent sound. Love the Keystone correction settings. Just remember to buy a micro HDMI adapter for it if you intend on having an input.

Nice portable projector
First time projector buyer here. A friend of mines spoke highly of this projector so I decided to do my due diligence. I saw mixed reviews on YouTube and was pretty hesitant about purchasing it. However I went through and purchased due to word of mouth and I must say that I’m impressed. For one the picture quality is pretty good. Physically it feels durable and weighted nicely. The most important thing to mention is its portability! You can literally set this up anywhere! And I mean anywhere. The picture auto keystones really quick and easy. The brightness could be better in my opinion. It’s useable for my needs but if you are a person who is critical on brightness with movies and tv shows then I’d say to search for something else. For a portable projector it’s perfect and I think it’s worth mentioning that the bigger more stationary projectors can produce more brightness rather than a smaller more portable one. The sound is decent if you don’t have a Bluetooth speaker setup. It’s not Harman Kardon quality but it’s enough to get what you need out of it. I’m sure there are better sounding projectors but again, this is a small portable projector. Also there is no built in battery so you must buy a battery pack if you don’t plan on plugging it into the wall. 25k MAh is ok but I would recommend something with more juice. I can probably watch a little over an hr with the 25k mah setup. Other than that I keep it plugged into the wall. It doesn’t over heat which is good and the remote seems very responsive. All in all I’m happy with it’s capabilities. This projector is really for portability. If you want an imax experience than I’d recommend something else.

Device suddenly bricked - won't power on. Repair costs hundreds of dollars!
There was a lot to like about this projector at first - especially the auto-focus and auto-keystone adjustments. Great brightness and picture quality. But the software is annoying. It insists on resuming playback the moment you turn it on, even if you turned it off while in the menu. No option to change that behavior. Also, no ability to stream from a local network-attached storage. These are nuisances I could have put up with. But then... it just bricked itself. It stopped powering on at all - neither with the remote nor the touch interface on the projector. I've seen many reports from others encountering the same issue. And since this happened a mere 5 months past the warranty, they're charging half the price of a brand new unit to repair it! Had I known, I would not have purchased. Nice form factor and image quality. Lousy software. Unreliable and expensive to fix. Do not buy.

Very good image and sound quality, menu controls don’t help to adjust/laggy controls
I have purchased projectors and screens previously and most had bad audio, questionable image quality and were themselves too loud. This projector has great audio and makes almost no noise from the fan but I chose this one because the auto keystone feature since I have limited placement options in a newly rehabbed area of the basement I wanted to make a cinema room (but still have the ability to move screen out of the way to just have decorated wall). The image quality is very good even at 90%. I purchased a 100” screen for the exterior stone wall and from 12’ away the projector looks best around 85% for my size but works well at 90%. Over 7 foot wide image! The preset apps for streaming and live tv give me everything I have on my Samsung tv and controlling it with the remote (solar, but would be nice IF usbC charging cable was included). It connected fine to my iPhone to control the projector as well as share screen. I also purchased a micro hdmi cable to connect my MacBook to screen without issue. I haven’t moved a gaming system down yet but assume it will work fine with the micro cable. The image quality is very good for a projector in this price point. It’s bright AS LONG AS you can control ambient light in your room. It would be nice if you could better control the brightness but as long as I keep windows covered and keep lights off it’s beautiful. As I mentioned, it’s over 7 foot wide image so that with good resolution is the wow factor for this projector. Overall I’m thrilled, however, it is annoying that I have to reset the projector every single time I turn it on. I can’t permanently mount it high because every time I start it, the keystone is off and the size is off (even if the menu says it’s at 85% it’s not, it’s at 100%) and to correct this I have to turn the projector to a side wall, allow it to reset keystone and focus and THEN turn it back to my screen to do the process again. And even then, I often have to do this more than once and unfortunately 90% of the time, the adjustment in the menu are unresponsive. I select screen size and nothing changes, I select keystone manual adjustments and nothing happens. Every 10th time I try this it might work but mostly it doesn’t. It could be the lag is too great and my patience is too short…but this is a problem I thought would be corrected by the version update. It was bad enough that I am still considering the idea of returning it. The only reason I haven’t is that I doubt I will find a projector with the other features at this price so I’m just playing the game and doing the dance to get it fine tuned the way it should be. Overall I’m still very pleased with image and sound quality and you can’t beat the size!

Surprisingly good.
Relatively simple setup. It auto-adjusts seamlessly. When we first turned it one we just pointed it straight up at the ceiling. Our textured walls and ceiling are white but smooth enough that any blank space becomes a backdrop for it. We bought a screen, but the walls actually seem to work better. Super portable. We move it around constantly and it quickly recalibrates for color, angle, etc. Once it's on your wifi you've got instant access to tons of tv- it's like having an old school cable box built in. Bright enough that you probably should not use 100% brightness level at night for eye health, but like all projectors, it doesn't work well if there's much ambient light. It won't work outdoors while the sun is up. The audio is even pretty great- good enough that we don't feel the need to connect Bluetooth speakers when we move it around. There's a fan that makes a faint whirring noise. I dropped it hard right as I opened the package, but the little fella seems pretty durable so far. I haven't tried gaming on it yet, if I do I may send an update. So far it's exceeded my expectations.

My favorite purchase so far!
Honestly. I don’t write reviews often, but I have to for this. If you have the money, buy it! I was trying to find the perfect projector for a while and then I stumbled upon the Samsung freestyle. It has the best of everything. Samsung tv, apps, games, you name it. It is super bright, the auto focus is a life saver, the battery stand lasts about 3 hours which is good enough for a movie or a couple of shows, otherwise I just leave it plugged in the wall. The color quality is outrageously good no matter what size the screen is. We go camping with our RV at the beach and projected a movie onto the side of it. Had the whole beach coming to watch! This projector comes with auto focus & auto keystone which will display the screen according to the angle it is set up at ( such a time saver ). Set up was easy and simple, and there’s an app for it as well. 10/10 purchase.
