I purchased these scales awhile ago but the dial self locks when pressing it in and don't move back to zero is this normal has anyone else experience

Mine never done that I didn’t rate my purchase no bit as when standing in scales I couldn’t see my weight had to get someone else to tell me so I returned item and brought cheap one at Asda perfect and half the price as well

one leg amputated if i stand in middle of scale would this give me a true reading

No - these scales are absolutely useless - they can’t weigh accurately and readings seemed to vary by about 7 lbs just by getting on and off and back on again! Using the calibration wheel does not improve this and I used them in a solid floor. In the end I gave them to my kids as a toy. One of the worse things I have ever bought on Amazon.Weight seems to change if you lean forwards or backwards- so may be worse for you. Perhaps I was unlucky with mine. I replaced mine with the Active Era Ultra Slim Digital, more expensive but have been worth it. So far these have been great and very accurate.
