So I have a gaming laptop that only has 500 gb of memory and when said and done with some other basic programs I am left with 223 gb. So playing games I would have to pick and choose which games I wanted to play. Then also having to delete and redownload certain games to keep up. So I bought this SSD and it has been wonderful. I downloaded almost my entire steam library except a couple games I no longer play and it still has 2.3 terabytes left of storage. I can play any game off of my steam library. It came with 3.6 Terabytes not the full 4 as advertised but the SSD probably needs that 400 gbs of space for running. All around I can literally play any game off it with no problems. One thing to note it takes like a hair longer to download anything on to it. It has to reserve space on the ssd which only slightly increases download time. Also if I can play games on it and heavy ones at that the read and write speeds are definitely as stated. Overall a must buy. It finally died with a year of wear and it’s been good until I could update or install games

Originally purchased Crucial X10 Pro Portable SSD in 4TB size and had to return as found didn’t work with Panasonic LUMIX S5IIX that has a limit of 2TB. Ended-up purchasing a Crucial X10 Pro Portable SSD 2TB size to record directly to Panasonic LUMIX S5IIX via camera’s USB-C port in various formats - jpeg, raw stills and up to Prores 422 at 1.6Gbps videos during international trip for 14 days straight working the camera and SSD at least 8 hours a day and all worked amazingly well. There was just 1 instance the camera stated it was unable to record to the SSD about 2 seconds after I pressed the camera’s record button. However, that could have been related to the camera and it was quickly resolved by turning off and on the camera, and happened just once in 14 days of straight full day use. Importantly, when returned home and plugged the SSD directly into my 2023 MacBook Pro, all still and video footage was able to instantly play back in real-time directly from the SSD. Of course also transferred entire SSD recorded content of over 1TB of data to a backup drive which was extremely fast to complete. I ended-up purchasing another 2TB Crucial SSD - Highly recommended SSD!!! Hope this helps :-)

First of all....I'm an older gent who knows enough about this stuff to utilize digital life and love it. This SSD is fast and small. I thought the price was great for 4TB. The downside is twofold thus far.... 1.) This drive disconnects and reconnects a few times an hour all on its' own. It doesn't matter if it is sitting or being used. It doesn't feel hot and is not the cable. 2.) Getting some kind of encryption on this to protect the data is a nightmare. I've downloaded the Storage Executive software and while it is comprehensive in its' scope, and mentions encryption, there is no way to simply password protect this drive. Crucial sends me to Bitlocker but it doesn't handshake and I'm tired of reading endless MS forums to sort this out. Do I need "Bitlocker to Go"? Do I need to have "MS10 Pro edition" to simply get this damned thing encrypted? It's maddening that Crucial simply can't make this easy. I have used WD drives for years and they are bulletproof plug and play in this regard. I'm going back as I am quickly losing faith in this drive. 3.) I wrote tech support, let's see what happens tomorrow if they will redeem themselves. I think if I was 30 years old and could navigate all the jargon with drives etc. I might stand a chance but why would anyone go through this nonsense? 10-10-2024......Still waiting for the encryption software I was promised for this drive. On top of that the drive is now disconnecting and reconnecting by itself while remaining docked to my computer. I regret buying this SSD and will stick with Samsung or WD next time. Crucial needs to do what they say they will, it's not worth saving a few bucks and spend so much time screwing with this. 2/14/2025 Here I am still trying to get an SSD out of this company that actually works. I spent a lot of time following their directions with reformats, Executive and disk analysis. They finally issued an RMA and I sent it back to them in the required timeframe. Now they have accepted it and tell me they have no stock with which to replace my defective unit. Funny how the encryption software FINALLY comes out after waiting over a year and now I don't have a drive. I would just like my money back and be done with this company. 3/7/2025 I just downgraded my rating to one star based on my experience with this comapny. Why Amazon shows this as an "Amazon Choice" is beyond me. It is going on 2 years and I still don't have a drive that works with no definitive time I can expect to have it replaced. They have my drive now for months and I have spent dozens of hours with tech support trying to manage the drive before I sent it in. Today, I asked for a refund. I have lost all faith in this POS comapny and their drives. My drive hasn't worked properly from day one and all I get is jerked around by Micron. They send me endless internal memos until I got angry and told them to stop. The day another replacement drive shows up and fails is the day my head explodes with this company. I am going to ask Amazon to intervene at this point . It just figures when they FINALLY come out with encryption software I don't have a drive to use it on. Honestly, these people suck.

I’m very happy with the Crucial X10 Pro 1TB Portable SSD. It feels like a premium, well-built product from the moment you take it out of the box. The design is compact, lightweight, and easy to carry, which makes it perfect for work, travel, backups, and moving large files between devices. The performance has been excellent. File transfers are fast, and the drive works smoothly without complicated setup. It is basically plug and play, which is exactly what I expect from a portable SSD. I also like that it does not take much space in my bag or desk setup, but still gives me plenty of storage capacity. For anyone who works with photos, videos, documents, or just needs reliable external storage, this is a great option. Overall, excellent speed, solid construction, compact size, and great value. This is a pretty great little drive. If you have the right hardware (USB 3.2 Gen 2 2x2), this thing is FAST. Even if you have a non-2x2 port (or even a Gen 1 port), this will hit the max real-world speed of that port. I copied a 16GB file to this drive at a sustained 1.15 GB/s (it took about 12 seconds). I transferred it from the drive to my desktop IN LESS THAN THREE SECONDS. Over 6 GB/s. It was so fast I thought it was a lie. It wasn't. I verified the file afterward. That's crazy fast for such a small, sturdy, affordable drive. It's well built, it says cool, has a key loop?, an LED. Like I said... it's pretty great. What's bad? If I had to say something, probably the short USB-C cable. It's not very soft or flexible and it likes to push around the drive a bit.

Let's start with the positives: - Compact: The drive gets an A+ for this accomplishment, as it's about 3/4 the footprint of its Samsung equal (T9). - Lightweight: It feels solid, is lightweight respectively, but not as light as its Samsung equal (T9). - USB-C: Ideal, as expected Now for the not-so-great points: - Read/Write Speeds: NOT EVEN CLOSE to what they advertise. My Samsung T7 (1000/1000) blows it away in read/write speeds and it should be the other way around. Super disappointed. Performance-wise, it's equal to my Samsung T5 (500/500). - Boot Up Speed: The drive sleeps when not active, like most drives these days (annoying as hell). Takes 2-3 seconds to boot up when called on. Again, SUPER SLOW. Twice as long as its Samsung equal (T9). - Space: My Samsung T7 that I replaced has a 2TB capacity (95% full). After transferring the data to the Crucial X10 Pro 4TB, I have less than a TB of space remaining. How the hell does that math work? Obviously, we have an issue. NOTE: I'm running the latest MacBook Pro 16" M3. There's no reason for the lag, but it's clearly present. Again, super disappointed. Now I did not reformat the drive specifically for Mac, but may give that a try to see if it helps. In all fairness, I did not reformat my Samsung T5, T7 or T9 drives to Mac spec either. I want to love this drive 100%, but sadly do not. Also, I'm using high-end USB-C 4 cables, so it's not the cables. After I reformat it to Mac standards, I'll adjust my review if warranted. Was hoping I wouldn't have to, as my work computer is a PC and home computer is a Mac. Like being able to use the same drive on both without issue. My Suggestions: - If you're looking for a tiny footprint, buy the Crucial X9 Pro - save some money because there's most likely little to no read/write speed difference. Honestly, it cannot be slower. - If you're looking for performance and don't mind the slightly bigger footprint (lighter/faster/more expensive), buy the Samsung T9. Or the Samsung T7 (lighter, faster, cheaper). In closing, I hope you're listening Crucial and can shed some light on the product's shortcomings. I bought two of these drives with the same performance/results. My intent is not to bad mouth your product, but we consumers have the right to know what we're buying at $300 a pop. That's a lot of money for such poor performance.
