Great water absorbing material
Worked great for my temporary water problem in my basement. I’m drying out so can be used again if needed. Takes quite a long time to dry.

Did the job, wasn't quick though.
I am writing this review after just having to use them. The bag is really hard to open, but I was panicking because the water was backing up in our bathroom, so that might have had something to do with it. These are really a one-time use kind of thing, take them out of the bag, unfold and toss them in or place in front of the water so it blocks it. In the end, they did the job. Although they didn't soak up as much water as I thought they were going to, I'm glad I got them because they came in handy. The absorbtion wasn't quick, but enough that it blocked water from going forward.

Gets the job done
These hold a lot water and can be reused once dried. Very reliable for basement leaks, just a bit on the costly side.

Quick Dam a product every homeowner should own.
QuickDam is a fantastic product which I wish I had found it a week sooner than I did. We had a major water issue in my basement that we figured we shop vaced about 200 to 300 gallons of water, always dumping it down my basement sump sink. But the water kept coming in . I had several cases of wee wee pads in the house which I was using to sop up as much water as I could. About 4 of those in a garbage bag weighed over 20 pounds . That is the first picture. No matter how much we vacuumed up the water, it kept coming in . After about A week of thinking ok we have the water under control.. more water.. still no idea where it was coming from . I found QuickDam online when I searched for product to soak up water indoors. These things actually form a dam after becoming fully soaked. It did take a little while for them to soak up the water, but once they did we were able to stop vacuuming up the water on the floor and pouring it down the sump sink . After buying my first 2 and using those I ended up buying a case of them - 12 in a case. As you can see in the 2nd picture the Orange things soaked up enough water my cat had to investigate. After a week my contract was finally able to come in to see where the water was coming from .. We figured it was some sort of crack in our foundation.. but after talking down the back wall area (3rd picture) it turns out it was a crack in our sewer line. Case of water found. Every time we dumped it down the sump sink it just kept coming right through the crack in the pipe .. Showers, Laundry. . .. I can highly recommend these I have already purchased several more of the 2 packs and sent them to my relatives in Florida who own homes QuickDam a product every homeowner should have.

Hope I never have them tested UPDATE- test passed
Didn’t have them and had a disaster neighbors got stuck with and I had to fly home to resolve. Hoping if, cross fingers never, happens again these will retain and absorb. UPDATE 4 years later - definitely 5 stars. Twice since first disaster these sock dams have stopped a flood. No idea why floods from rain only happen when we are far from home (which is like once or twice every few years). Seriously, we could be home 24 hours a day 365 days and no flood, step out to visit family and poof, flood, sigh. Today we were actually home and eufy water alarm went off and saw the sock dam holding the water in the horse shoe shape we had placed the sock ends to the wall, was impressive. THESE are not reusable but with great patience you can put the sticky sloppy buggers out on sidewalk on scorching days and eventually they will dry back up, and will leave snake marks so careful place chosen. Basically silicone crystals like you see in plant nursery shops to amend soil with to retain moisture (which been using in planter boxes over 20 years and indeed works) stuffed in a sock. Just ordered a 12 pack of 10’ to replace them all and will reuse the old if they they dry back out to reinforce the outer edge of new ones. Basically the old ones can still suck up water which can help during the hours of traveling back home when water alarm sounds (security cameras can be accessed remotely to view these areas too to decide if travel home needed). These socks, water bug alarms that can alert cell phone or a central alarm company and cameras can support determining if expensive plane home necessary.

Works as described - perfectly
Sewer backed up these helped pick up the mess nicely. So I decided to buy some “just in case” put one at my basement door. While I was on vacation the kid who volunteered to water my plans “lost control “ of the house and sprayed the door for quite some time. These prevented the excessive water from entering the basement . Highly recommend

Doesn't last 2 weeks
It's alright. It says it can last two weeks to six months. For me it barely lasted one week. It does absorb a lot of water but I wish it lasted longer.

Please don't waste your money
These promised a lot, but didn't deliver. I bought a LOT of these to simply guide water from my leaking basement to the drain. They never kept the water contained - they constantly leaked under the dam on a flat concrete floor. Once wet, they become a slimy, heavy mess. Then that slime becomes almost like glue if it hardens on surfaces. It's stained my floor, which doesn't bother me in my basement but might be a factor for others. I replaced this flop with silicone wall-type barriers that could be silicone to the floor and am much happier with their performance.

amazing
i put these down to protect furnace, water heater, shelves and laminate flooring transition in basement and forgot about them. one day i come home and i notice they are all bulged up and there are several inches of water contained within the area they encircle. a pipe connection had sprung a leak and the floor mat with anti skid was blocking the floor drain. lift up the mat, the water drained down the floor drain, appliances etc all dry. apparently you dont leave these on concrete to dry so i'll have to figure that out but its worth it, who knows how far the water would have spread without these

Amazing!
i bought these to help with spring melting that fills my horses shelter. I placed them outside the perimeter of the shelter and inside the doorways as well. They soaked up a very impressive amount as I did not think the 5 of them were actually going to handle the amount of water we usually get so I was pleasantly surprised. The horses did eventually end up busting a couple of them open by stepping on them but that is completely understandable and I do not fault the product at all. The bags were there for two full months without that happening. I would buy these again!
