Why does it say 6 piece and block....it is not five pieces and block?

Hi, It is just 5 piece and block.

What is the block like with this set please? Does it hold the knives in place? How stable is it?

The base is stable and holds the knives fine. But the block does mark easily. Not badly but if any grease touches it will mark. Also the knives have shown signs of rusting.

Can you fit extra knives in this block please?

Yes you can prob fit at least two extra knives in it !
