The ORIGINAL Bad Air Sponge Odor Absorbing Neutralant, 14oz(Packaging May Vary)

Started buying this last year and it's been a staple in my bedroom ever since. It lasts a long time depending on how you use it. Keep it in the container with the lid open and it can last around 3-4 months. Take the absorber out and laying it on the lid will make it last only around 1-2 months, but will be more potent. In general though it has a very strong smell. Not a bad smell! Just might catch you off guard at first. Best way I can describe it. It just smells like pure concentrated freshness...if that helps at all... Anyways, worth the money.

The bathroom in my Mum’s flat developed an overpowering and truly revolting smell after she moved out and the place was left empty. Purchased this item and the odour vanished within 24 hours. The product lasted about five months before we had to replace it. Very impressive.

It does the job !

I had heard about these while I was in China and ordered some from Taobao when I was living there, delighted to find these available in the UK, if a little overpriced. Used in the White House and on Amtrak trains, and they work well in the home too. Very good at neutralising odours, a godsend especially since I'm effectively living and working in the same room during COVID.

These are excellent, work really well, a little pricey but they are really effective. I would recommend these to friends.

Gets rid of even the worse smells

This the second time I bought this. Although not actually sure how effective this is as the first time I used in conjunction with a few other things to deal with a damp basement smell coming up into the house and the smell sort of went… which in hindsight could just have been it drying out somewhat as this time round, going into the wetter weather and used in conjunction with charcoal bags, it doesn’t seem to be doing much if anything. A costly error as they are expensive. A cheap bottle of Febreeze is probably more effective, I just had wanted to get rid of the smell rather than mask it.

I decided originally not to review it in the basis that if you can't say something positive why bother, but I have since been inundated with requests fro the seller for a review so here it is. This product is utter rubbish. Ridiculously expensive and doesn't work at all. I'd really like my money back for a mis-sold product.

Bought four of these for an apartment that stunk like stale grained in smoke (the previous tenant had lived there for 10 years, smoking heavily inside), Even after painting and airing out the stench was still present. The key to these is to take them out of their packaging for them to be fully effective. Put full to half to one-third of these in each room of the apartment, left the windows open for a week in August, which are hot and humid in an attic apartment. The odours had lifted completely out of the apartment, these worked beautifully much better than I had initially hoped.

I originally purchased the Bad Air Sponge for use in a small bedroom that was previously occupied by a male relative. If you have ever lived with males, then you have probably encountered this beast called male body odor. It is this magical aroma that seemingly permeates the room with no remorse. The mattress, carpet and even the wall was no match for this smell, even months later. I was at a loss because candles and scented wall plugins were temporarily masking the scent, but did not seem to have a lasting effect. At a loss, I turned to the internet as most of us do in times of need and found this gem. It’s humorous packaging tickled me and the reviews looked promising so I took the plunge and bought it. After receiving the item, I removed the lid and placed in a central area of the room. The contents inside look like a blue cylindrical blob with dark particles which I suspect may be bits of charcoal. Its aroma was pretty nice too. It smells a little like licorice to me. Letting it do its magic overnight, I was pleasantly surprised to see that this compact little container of odor absorbing blue blob was able to rid the room of the formidable foe that is male body odor. Still, I decided to withhold final judgement until the product was finished. As a test, I decided to remove the blue contents from the inside of the container and rest it atop the lid to see if that made a difference. Oh boy, did it ever! It completely eradicated the smell monster from my guest bedroom. Over time, the blue blob inside began to shrink and shrivel up into what looked like a dried up blue mass of alien skin. It took about 2.5 months of sitting out until I thought it was time to throw away the Bad Air Sponge and its tiny nugget of blue blob. During those 2.5 months, the horrible odor was gone and only a light licorice scent could be smelled. Now was the real test, would it hold up? I can safely say that the room has continued smelling fresh and clean even though I have not replaced the bad air sponge in over a month. One thing to note is that if the smell has been there a very long time, i.e. years, you may have to repurchase this as needed. Suffice it to say, I really like the Bad Air Sponge. It’s easy to use and effective at removing unwanted odor. You can unscrew the lid and leave it on a flat surface to do its job or dump out the contents onto the lid for heavy duty smells. The light licorice smell is pleasant. Plus, whatever the blue stuff inside the container is, it does a good job at clearing up bad smells and is pretty mess free, even when taken out of the container. After the blue content inside dries all up, you can recycle the container and repurchase as necessary. Easy peasy. I highly recommend this product to those looking to rid a space of unseemly scents.

We bought several of these after potty-training a puppy in a small, carpeted space. We had already tried enzyme and steam cleaners that worked reasonably well, but there was still a lingering odor in the apartment, especially when had been closed up for a few days (as when we went out of town). We bought several, one for the area where our cat box is, one for near the dog crate area, and two for our living room. We uncapped the one for the cat box area but left it in the container, and we dumped the sponge out on to the lid for overnight in the areas near the dog messes, but put them back in the container during the days, so the animals wouldn't eat them (they never tried, but we wanted to be cautious). For a piece of fabric furniture that had been soiled, we placed the container directly on the seat. Pros: They really do eliminate a lot of the odor. The improvement was probably 90% within a week, and it kept the cat box area much fresher than usual. The label comes off and underneath the containers all have neutral prints or are plain white, so you don't have the BAD AIR SPONGE staring guests in the face- it just looks like any other air freshener. The odor is fairly inoffensive- similar to industrial bathroom cleaning products- kind of a chemical-heavy "fresh". Cons: They don't last long. The ones in the cat box area, left in the container, probably lasted about a month on average. The effectiveness wears off with time- as it dries up, you have to cut it to expose more surface area to get the same level of effectiveness. The ones left out of the container for more rapid effects also dried up much faster. Basically, you get X amount of effectiveness out of each sponge, whether you leave it in the container for a slow effect in a continually stinky area (like near cat litter or a garbage can) or you use it to quickly to clean up a one-time stink. If you're planning on attacking a really large or bad space, I would buy a large number and expect that they will last a few weeks at most, and may need to be replaced later. The odor is VERY strong. It's not a BAD smell, but it is powerful- much stronger than a normal air freshener. I have asthma and migraine headaches, and it did not trigger either of those things, but I wouldn't be surprised if people who are bothered by scented products are bothered by this as well. The "sponge" itself is waxy with a bright blue color, and as it dries or is damaged, it crumbles easily. The resulting crumbles (and the entire sponge itself) are capable of staining, similar to a blue crayon. You can't leave this directly on a surface without damaging it. In short, these are great for powerful problem areas, but you have to use them correctly, and have a reasonable expectation of the product- it isn't unscented, and it may require multiple uses to solve long-term problems.
