Garvey's Traditional Organic Irish Brown Bread Mix,16 oz

I found this much easier to make than gathering up all the brown bread ingredients separately at the store. I found the directions to be easy to follow and appreciated the suggestion of using a cake pan (I lined mine with parchment). It tasted just as I expect brown bread to and it was very popular at dinner. I use the dough hook on my mixer to combine the mix and buttermilk. I live at 6,000 feet so I added 2T more flour and 2 T more buttermilk. It rose well in the oven. Will definitely be buying again!

I really liked this, while it was more refined it was still pretty good. I didn't rely wholly on the baking soda leavening, I did use some yeast I was testing at the moment(I had a bad string of failures 2 previous loaves due to some bad yeast) and I thought What the H.ll and threw it in. The mix was only supposed to make only 1.5lb of bread but with the yeast it was still good and it was around 2lbs. I really liked both however and need to give it 5 stars.

This product was easy to make and follow directions. The bread baked exactly as instructions say. The flavor was a bit different than we are used to. We tried it numerous ways butter, jelly not so good, room temperature or toasted were very good and my husband and I did not have a preference. The bread is very filling and I would say if you adding to your dinner menu make the slices thin.

So simple to make and very tasty. I served it at a party and guests raved about how good it was. I reordered 5 more immediately.

I liked this bread, but my family didn't. They are accustomed to the American white bread. This mix is a heavier bread and grainy. I loved the taste and texture.

This bread was very easy to make. I added a little extra buttermilk. Toasted it & served it with butter. It was delicious.

I'm a home baker and I found the instructions on the box to be rather confusing and not complete. For example, the package did not state that the pan (or pans?; again not straightforward) needed to be greased before adding dough. They definitely do! And the one and one half cup of buttermilk the instructions calls for is not nearly enough to thoroughly combine with the dry ingredients. Plan on adding up to an additional one half cup. The finished product itself is a resemblance of authentic Irish Brown Bread; however, it certainly doesn't live up to the hype of Garvey's "Following extensive research ion Ireland we developed this mix." Do not recommend. The bread is EXTREMELY dense and dry with meh flavor.

So easy to make and very good to eat!
