My feet sweat a lot so I'm not happy to select any socks, just any, I have to know first if my feet won't sweat.

Actually...I don't agree. Wool has a special quality--it is breathable. If you are going to Norway in winter and your guide advised you to gear up with all wool clothing, I would take heed. I highly recommend that you do so. I have spent winters working in Antarctica and the program issues wool socks to employees because wool cannot be beat for performance in cold/wet conditions. Not only does wool breathe, if it gets wet it continues to keep you warm. So, if you sweat you won't get cold. With any other fabric that is not the case. Nothing can replace a good pair of wool socks. And Darn Tough socks are top-of-the-line wool socks. I highly recommend you get a pair (or five!) before you go to Norway for the winter. You won't regret it. (p.s. i am in no way affiliated with DT socks, i'm just a sock aficionado who knows how hard it is to find good socks).

how do you determine size for the sock?

According to their website: Small fits women's shoe sizes 4.5 - 7, Medium fits sizes 7.5 - 9, Large fits sizes 10.5 - 11.5

are the top edges binding, or is there some looseness to them? I have some swelli g of the ankles, and can't have socks that bind. thanks!

Hi Andrea,If swelling of the ankles is a problem, you might want to give these a pass.  The entire sock fits snugly.  I don't find that the top is any tighter than the rest of the sock; the whole sock, however, is snug.  My husband, found them a bit too close-fitting for his comfort. Can they be put in the dryer?

I have had two pairs of these socks for two years.  They each get worn once a week and tossed in the wash and then the dryer.  They are still in great shape.  These socks are amazing.
