So many possibilities
So far i've used this thing to simulate:A pipe organAn 80s-style synthAmbient horror sound effects (which are freakishly close to the silent hill 2 soundtrack)NIN-style drone (via a distortion pedal in the FX loop)If you like weird guitar sounds, just get it

Before you buy - this is not a stand alone product
The best you are going to get from this pedal is by using it in conjunction with other effects. Yes, it's also a version of the same companies "Freeze" pedal - which I found to be a bit hit-and-miss regarding triggering and is a LOT cheaper. This seems more efficient at that level - but you're paying bigger bucks for more than that. If I could talk to the creators at EH, I'd also suggest that they overhaul their instruction leaflets - perhaps with diagrams/better diagrams and links to You Tube or their own website - because getting the best from the Super-Ego is not easy. I found that it failed to trigger on quite a few chords and I had to adjust my playing and guitar volume to compensate for that. That's not good - the tail wagging the dog - and because of that, I really would not recommend it for live work. It also has a tendency to "boom" volume-wise - another strike against it for live work. Yes, you could put a compressor/noise gate at the end of the chain - but that stifles the effect this pedal actually produces. In conjunction with other FX this granular synthesiser has a lot of possibilities - but you're going to be 'tweaking' a lot of buttons to exploit it fully.

Very good
It's powerful and requires some experiment to avoid wild surges, but for me it's becoming a subtle and adaptable aid to solo ambient music.Different modes (Auto etc.) make it capable of a wide range of uses.

This is a pedal I am using all the time.
If you watch all the demos and familiarize yourself with this pedal before you use it, it is really easy to use (at least in momentary mode). I use the momentary mode (the switch is in middle position) when jamming in real time. You can freeze a note for as long as your foot is holding the button down and this works great right out of the box. The ability to feed effects right into the superego with out it changing the rest of your effects chain gives the pedal endless creative possibilities. For me, the Superego in this mode has become part of my electric guitar.in Latch (switch to the left) mode you just tap the button and the note freezes with out you having to hold the note down. If you tap again on another note, the freeze function will layer the notes if you have the speed button turned to the right. You can do this endlessly until you double tap and that stops the pedal and the note dies out.The auto mode (switch to the right) changes the note that is frozen every time you hit a note hard. This is the most quirky of the settings and seems (so far) to be most useful for getting interesting effects with the synth sound all the way up and the dry sound all the way down. This pedal is way too much fun. I find the auto mode does not react naturally in a dynamic way but is something to get used to. Other than that, this is a perfect pedal and an easy 5 stars.
