Much better than plier style tool
Cv boot clamps on my Nissan are quite wide and thick (see picture). Originally I bought plier style tool and it failed miserably to secure any of them (light duty/limited use tool). This little 'vise" style tool worked perfectly and allowed me to finish the job. Have not figured out how to remove clamps with this tool yet.

File smooth the bolt before first use.
I bought this for a cv axle rubber boot replacement, and it was just the right size to get into the limited space. The larger wrench style crimper wouldn't have worked. I recommend buy this crimper over the other larger cheaper one, it's worth it. File the excess thread off the tip of the bolt before using. Otherwise, it will dig into the back of the crimp slide. Quality control problem is why I took a star off. Grease the bolt and slides before first use. I found using a small adjustable wrench was easier than a ratcheting wrench, better control. Consider buying extra band clamps, I messed one up and had to cut it off. Glad I had extra.

Does the job and easy to use
These pliers worked exactly as intended and made tightening CV boot clamps much easier than improvised tools. Solid build and a good tool to have if you work on axles.

Best Tool for CV Boot Clamps
I have used this tool to replace the CV Boots of both my โ12 Corolla and โ13 Sienna. The tool works perfectly. Actually better than the plier type crimper. I used an adjustable wrench to hold the tool and keep it from turning when I was tightening the 13mm bolt to close the clamps. I never found the need to torque the bolt too hard for the clamps to tighten and meet. I recommend this tool.

WELL DESIGNED, CHEAPLY MADE, CHINESSE JUNK
This CV axle boot strap clamping tool is well designed and work flawlessly clamping strong CV boot straps like the original GM CV boot straps on 4WD trucks front CV axles, which require a high torque tool to get them to specs. However, the bolt that pushes the jaws together is made of low grade junk metal. I clamped four GM straps for a SIERRA 2500HD diesel pickup truck, and the tool clamping bolt is already stripped almost to the point of failure, even though I cleaned and greased it before use. I like the tool so much, that I am going to keep it and replace the bolt with a good grade 8 bolt, and hope the thread on the jaws hold. The description of this tool is also misleading/wrong. This tool is not made to remove the clamps, it only works for compressing them upon installation.

Good Tool ๐
I originally bought this ReluxGo clamp tool for CV shaft boots. Naturally, as soon as it arrived, I stopped getting CV jobs for two solid years! Today, I finally got to use it while replacing an inner tie rod, and I am incredibly glad I had this specific style. Unlike the giant plier-style clamp tools, this one uses a bolt mechanism that you tighten down with a wrench to squeeze the metal ring clamp together. Here is how it breaks down: The Good: The compact, nut-and-bolt design is an absolute lifesaver for claustrophobic, on-car spaces. Trying to squeeze giant plier handles up inside the lower engine area for an inner tie rod would be a complete nightmare. The Reality: You still need a little bit of room to swing your wrench. Even using a small ratcheting wrench behind it, I had to peel back a bit of the fender cover to comfortably access the area. The Verdict: If I were doing a CV boot off the car on a workbench, a traditional handle-squeeze plier would definitely be faster to just snap on and off. But for on-car repairs where space is at a premium, this tool wins big time. It does exactly what it is prescribed to do. Highly recommend for inner tie rods!

As advertised
As advertised Did the job well. Definitely grease all friction points for easier use. A tool to last. Not the quickest acting but very firm and no grip strength required to crimp. Useable in vehicle and on the bench.
