I can’t say enough about these amazing gates and how effective they’ve been at keeping my elderly dog off of the stairs. I bought 2: one for the top and the other for the bottom, so we can effectively corral him. Installing the gates was fairly quick and it was straightforward. The wood-like paint is awesome and matches my 1930s home beautifully, so this was an added bonus. I had been worried about drilling into lathe and plaster for the gates and this tension install completely removed that problem, as no tools were required. The latches are sturdy and the gates can self-lock if the door is swinging closed behind me. I also like that the gates open/close in both directions. Living in a house with narrow passages, these gates were one of the narrowest options I could find (and of course they can expand), so I couldn’t be happier. It took a few days for my dog to get used to the gates but now he’s chill and doesn’t even try messing with them anymore. I only wish I’d gotten them earlier!

This gate is really great - and I've had probably a dozen different brands/models/etc, all the pressure fit type (vs wall mounted). The auto-close feature works better and more reliably/consistently than any other one I've had. The mechanism to unlatch is really user friendly but definitely baby/toddler proof. The only downside is having to also lift; that may just be a downside for me because of muscle weakness. It's not really a problem, but I wish I didn't have to lift it. (Then again, it also ensures no little ones accidentally get through!) The setup was exceedingly simple, and I really appreciate that the package includes a few width adapters so it really fits well in any opening (within the specified range). I did have a small, seemingly inconsequential plastic piece break off a couple weeks after install. The gate functions normally without it, and it doesn't seem to be a pinch hazard. But I contacted the company (because they would know for sure), and they are sending me a replacement gate for free. So that's amazing customer service. 10/10 would buy again, and would try to buy from them for other products!!

I love this gate! I adopted a puppy and needed to keep him safe. I had an old gate and had to climb over it and I ended up falling and getting hurt. So I was on the hunt to find one with a door and I found this gate. I absolutely love it! Super easy to put together and it’s super strong.

I am giving this four stars because of the handle- you have to squeeze the top and bottom of the handle clip and pull up at the same time, which is a bit difficult and painful if you have arthritis. I'm sure this is a safety feature so toddlers can't open the door, but I use it to keep the dogs out of the kitchen, so I don't need that feature. My cats can't jump over this gate, which I didn't think about before I bought it. If you have cats, I would recommend buying the one with the cat door that this company makes. I bought a shorter version of this a couple of years ago that I have in the hallway and my border collie jumps over it. She can't jump over this one! Very easy to install and nice looking. The door swings either way and will stay open, but also will close and lock behind you if you want it to by giving it a push.

I purchased two others prior to this one, both of them accommodated a larger/wider width. Had issues with these first two, the bottom latch seemed to be very securely wedged-in, I was unable to force it up and out, I couldn't open the door. In retrospect, I suppose I could have tightened the "support screws" too tightly (compression method/no hardware required), compressing the unit a bit and preventing the door to open. Needless to say, this product, the same company as one of the previous ones I purchased, is very good. Very easy to install, very easy to open the door, we love the stay-open option for when babies are sleeping etc.. there is no "walking plate" on this version, or at least this one did not come with it. One of the larger units I returned had it, so as long as you don't mind the bar on the bottom, this is absolutely excellent, I highly recommend it. Works very well with a staircase railing adjoining a wall on the other side too. Highly recommend.

Installed easily. Love the height. Opens n closes smoothly. Keeps cats out of bedroom without having to close door. I have 3 in my home. Great door!

This didn’t let me add this pic for some reason on my last review!! Hopefully my review went through as it disappeared when I tried retaking the photo again!!! NOT HAPPY!!! **ORIGINAL REVIEW- I've worked OVER 12 HOURS trying to install this new gate!!! It said it was supposed to be a SIMPLE INSTALLATION so I thought I would get it as I have arthritis in my hands, well overnight 12 HOURS LATER it's still NOT installed!! I've tried all different ways to get the bolts in far enough into the gate so it could fit into those little cups, last night I could get two bolts into the cups (on the same side) but I couldn't get the other two on the other side. Then this morning I put on a sticky gripping glove and I finally got one of the bolts on the other side in far enough BUT NOT that last bolt!! It wouldn't go far enough in in order for it to fit into that cup into the doorway but yet all of the other bolts went in enough but yet the gate was STUCK in that doorway which is to my kitchen where my pups are and where my medicine is!! And it says DON'T CUT THOSE TIES TO THE GATE SO I WAS STUCK WITHOUT MY MEDS IN WHICH MY HEART RATE IS EXTREMELY FAST AT 147 bpm which my heart meds is supposed to control but I couldn't get to those meds because the gate was stuck with the three bolts and the one without the sticky cup as it won't fit in there with that cup!! Also I now figure out AFTER ALL OF THIS WORK AND TACHYCARDIA THAT I RECEIVED A BAD BOLT THAT DOESN'T WORK RIGHT (as I tried that same bolt in those other extensions and it didn't work in those either!!) , now I NEED ANOTHER NEW THREADED BOLT AND A COUPLE OF MORE OF THOSE STICKY PADS AS I HAD TO PULL ON THAT ONE SIDE TO GET THE GATE OFF SO I CAN TAKE MY MEDS AND SEE MY PUPS!!!! **A NOTE TO THE COMPANY- PLEASE PUT EXTRA THREADED BOLTS AND STICKY STICKERS IN THE BOX!!!! This was a TOTAL WASTE OF MY TIME AND MONEY!!! Hopefully the company will send me these! ** NOTE- this was my ORIGINAL REVIEW that somehow DISAPPEARED OFF OF THE AMAZON WEBSITE!!! This gate was perfect for my needs. I used it to keep my crazy little Maltese out of my sunroom. It was easy to install and is good quality. Love the self close feature. I’m really happy with this purchase.

I bought this gate to stop my cunning dog from breaking into the kitchen. So far, so good. It's relatively easy to assemble, sturdy and tall enough for a medium sized dog not to jump over it.

Absolutely love this baby gate! It’s not an eyesore at all, which is important since I’ll be looking at it for the next few years until my baby is confident with stairs. No drilling needed and the instructions were very easy to follow. Installation was quick, and the gate feels very sturdy. The grip is amazing and holds securely in place. It gives me real peace of mind. I can be in the kitchen without worrying about my baby climbing the stairs or wandering toward the front of the house unsupervised. Highly recommend for parents who want safety without sacrificing how their home looks!
