ABOUT THIS BOOK... “DO YOU WANT TO KNOW THE TRUTH?” As the ultimate monster icon returns to the big screen in the global blockbuster Kong: Skull Island, Legendary Comics expands the MonsterVerse with the official graphic novel prequel to the film. Discover the secrets of Kong’s mythic origins as the cryptozoological adventurers of Monarch return to the birthplace of one our world’s greatest wonders. As a journey of discovery becomes a desperate escape mission, a team of operatives will fight to survive the hidden dangers of the island – and each other. Now available for the first time as one epic saga, join Monarch’s mission into myth, revealing the untold history of this god-like creature and the battle for survival that made him the last of his kind. This all-new collected edition includes declassified files from the Monarch datacore, revealing expert zoological analysis of some of Skull Island’s most extraordinary florafauna. Review: A fine Kong Quest! - This graphic novel was great. The MonsterVerse is still a struggling cinematic universe but in my opinion, it has great potential and this work is a great example of that. Reading Birth of Kong helps flesh out the nature of Monarch, shows the dedication of the writers to create an ongoing, developing continuity, and tells great stories with unforeseen twists. Have a read to enter the space of exploring this version of reality. Review: Decent story, very nice art - The story isn't revolutionary, but it works. Typical adventure disaster on Kong Island. But the art is gorgeous, and is enough to justify the purchase.

Need to see Skull Island to fully get it
A very nice sequel to the movie that further ties it to the Monster verse. Lots of concept art and Monarch info as well.

Interesting
*SPOILER FREE* This is interesting because it labels itself as a prequel, but most of the events of the story takes place 20 years after the events of the movie. The "prequel" parts are flashbacks of sorts. The story itself didn't reveal a whole lot to quite justify it's length, but it was still interesting nonetheless. The back of it has some "extra files" describing all the "animals" on the island, including some that dont show up in the movie or comic. The pictures themselves seemed a little difficult to pick out details. I'm not sure if it's the material it is printed on, a lack of contrast in the art, or I'm just not used to it.

Fun short read
Read it on the 1st night I got it. Pretty good story and the art work is fantastic. Better artwork than the Godzilla: Awakening comic.

Thumbs up
Good midquel/prequel/sequel story, wonder how much of it actually carries over into the movies though

Incompleto
No es el libro completo y en la descripcion no se ve que falte parte del libro claramente. Engañoso para mi gusto.

A prequel in the form of a sequel
I was pleased with this sequel/prequel story to the Legendary WB movie of Kong of Skull Island, this was a novel way of telling the back story of the LWB incarnation of Kong, as well as developing a little more story behind the Monarch organisation. Great art work, and a nice pop corn story line.

Don't buy!!!
Great comic, but I wouldn't waste my money buying it as the 3 sequel volumes for some reason don't exist at all. Not on here nor anywhere. At least not in hardcopy form anyway.
