I was doubtful, but it works great. I have long hair and use a lot of hair conditioner. The drain was sluggish. Now it drains well.

Fragrancy but does a good job dissolving the gunky buildup
I'm using it for my bathroom sink drain, which has begun moving slowly. It works well dissolving the buildup inside the pipe. I could see think chunks (chips?) of the stuff pulling away the day after I poured some in the night before. The unfortunate thing for me is the heavy perfumey smell. The bottle says it's has a "citrus" and "sage" scent, but it actually just smells perfumey. If the fragrance-free version wasn't $13 more per gallon, I'd go with that. But for a rental apartment, I'm not up for spending that much money. It's a good value at $27; not so sure it would be at $40. Still, it's easy to use and I like the results so far. I've got a drain cleaner brush ordered to help peel away the dissolving buildup and will definitely use this product again.

The product doesnโt work
This product doesnโt work. I used the entire bottle in a span of several days, as recommended. The drain continues to be clogged. This product is a waste of money.

Not for Opening a Drain. Amazing for Slow, Smelly Drains!
First, if you are sensitive to strong smells, don't get the scented version. It's very strong. We bought an older house with slow, smelly drains. Every time we ran the dishwasher, it smelled like the sewer was in our kitchen. The bathroom sink gruggled and drained slow, making brushing your teeth quickly an athletic sport. We tried Drain-o and that didn't help. Then I remembered how useful enzymes can be and found this product. We put this stuff down the drain three nights in a row per directions. Smell? Gone! And although the scent is strong, when it dissipated, the smell was still gone. So it isn't just masking it. Slow drain? Nope, no longer. We could run the dishwahser without inviting the sewer into our kitchen. We have tried it on a blocked drain, and it didn't help. But after we used our plumber snake to push the block out, the drain cleaner took care of the smell. I've started buying this stuff in bulk. :-)

Shocked!!!
I felt like Moses parting the sea, with earthworm being my east wind and my plunger being my staff!! I have been struggling for quite a while with slow drains in my kitchen and bathroom sinks. the last couple of weeks were the worse because they were barely draining. Because of one of my cats obsessiveness with my sinks and draining water I had to be careful with the products I used and not being harmful to pets. I have tried every non toxic home remedy I could find on google. Before I called in a plumber I decided to try Earthworm in a last ditch effort. I started with my bathroom sink. I used it two nights in a row and the day after the second night the problem got worse. Which the bottle said might happen. It also said if this happens to use a plunger. So I whipped out my plunger and one quick plunge, the water drained out of the sink like I hadn't seen it since I first moved into my 100 year old home. So I moved on to my kitchen sink. Last night was my third night using earthworm. (I used a heavy pot on the drain so my cat couldn't get into trouble) I decided not to wait for the water draining to get worse, I turned on my faucet and used the plunger a couple of times before the water started draining properly. I really can't be happier and will now use earthworm drain cleaner to help maintain my sink's drains!

Used for smelly sink drains
I upgraded my bathroom faucet. Unfortunately that meant a mandatory change from 2.2 GPM (gallons per minute) down to 1.2 GPM, which seems to be a manufacturer's choice to "help" us save water. That means there is not enough water flow to keep the P trap flushed out under the sink, and odor causing deposits quickly built up. Sink smelled bad. I used Earthworm as directed, and the smell has been gone for weeks now. Very happy with it.

Smell
So far it seems to have gotten rid of the awful smell when doing laundry. When it went down the drain it stunk. I've used it once and si far no smell, but only used sink once.
