They do work
I was a bit suspicious about these joints, normally using crimps, but with Xmas lights and the smaller gauge wires I realised that I needed to revisit these connectors, I use them to splice failed LED's together and so far the failure rate has been pretty small, usually attributed to the way I've spliced the wires. Worth a try, you can always go back to crimps if they don't work. A bonus is that you don't need to solder, the heat gun does it for you.
