A great mid-sized Gorillapod and with the Joby ball head makes a good, light mini-tripod. This 3k size is fine for mobile phones, GoPros and Insta360 cameras. The 1k model would also work for these lightweight devices but having a 3k Gorillapod means it will be sturdier and you can also use it for small mirrorless cameras and micro four thirds cameras. For your larger cameras you’ll need the heavier 5k Model. I bought the 3k kit model with the Joby ball head and Joby bespoke, non-standard, slide-in plate (it’s not a standard Arca plate), but it works fine with all my cameras. The combination is very sturdy with all medium sized cameras. The ad does say the head has a ‘panning’ feature but this is not quite true. Yes, if you release the single clamping knob you can spin the ball head on its base but your camera may also move from its original position (depending on its weight, of course). This makes true panning a little difficult. I don’t have a problem with bespoke plates or the lack of true panning as you can easily remove the ball head and swap it with one you already have - or buy the Gorillapod with the standard Arca plate ball head. Joby Gorillapods are not the cheapest you can buy but you are paying for quality. They won’t replace a standard tripod but they are very light to carry, can be used where large tripods are not allowed (i.e. in most public places), and you can wrap them around a fixed object to get the required height for your shot.

Great little tool, sturdy, put it in your bag and forget (lightweight). Good grip, perfect for smaller cameras (mirror less, analogue).

Purchased for my partner, who has made good use of it with his photography, useful for attaching portable lighting to. Recently used it attached to whelping bed for my bitch who recently had a litter of puppies, it held on fine to the sides and helped us provide some lighting to ensure her delivery of puppies went ok. Very portable, flexible and versatile

It's very handy to have in your backpack and is lightweight. However, the build quality and plastic materials are not the best; on my first tripod, one part of a leg cracked. Be careful when twisting the legs, as they may crack.

Had to send the first one back, as one of the legs failed upon opening. Had a replacement sent ,arriving the next day. This seems well made and sturdy, and will easily handle Sony A7 +Zoom or Sony camcorder. Amended 23/2/2025 After use for one and a bit days the same problem has arisen,leg snapped off at the base of ball head housing. Either a bad design or shoddy materials? Utter garbage ,buyer beware. Amazon staff were amazing though, refunded ,no problem.

I'm very happy with my purchase. This mini tripod was exactly what i need for my video projects. I'm using Sony camera with Tamron lens and total weight is around 1.2 kg. This tripod handles it without any issues. It is very stable with this weight and i can put the camera in any position i want to.
