Do these cancel the sound of a mower?

Not totally but when you play music they do pretty well.

I read a review of these that said they were tight. I have a big head, will these fit me?

The Beats Studio Pro don't snug well. These headphones tend to clamp on the ears. I felt like wanting to take them off every hour of use because my ears started to feel suffocated and warm of how tight they were on my ears. I recommend you try them first if you happen to see them available for testing at your nearest Apple store, Best Buy or Electronics and Gadgets store.

will work with Amazon fire tv?

Are these good for audio monitoring/recording music with? Or strictly to listen to music?

I only used those headphones phones for listening to music. So I can tell you they were good but werent great because they could of been louder. What I hated most about them is that to change to the next song and increasing the volume settings were unnecessary confusing. All in all these headphones are not worth the money.
