Beautiful piece of art. Although the Shofar I received is all one color it's still beautiful and natural looking. I wish it was like the one in the advertisement. Yes, it is smelly and the spray provided does not suppress the smell. I added a little Frankincense essential oil. Didn't help. Research on cleaning Shofars shows to wipe the inside with a mild soap solution. Did that, didn't help for long. Once it dries the smell returns but it only if you put your nose at the opening of the horn. Also, It sounds fantastic. The end has a slight flare to rest your lip against. I play trumpet so it's easy to create the sound. The seller packaged the item properly and I now have it on display. I'd purchase from this seller again. Highly recommended.

Beautiful is an understatement!! Absolutely LOVE it!!

I got it for Joshua 6 homily presentation. I practiced blowing it but the smell and the taste of dead animal stuck on my lips caused me to throw up, literally. I don't know what the manufacturer could do to remove the odor but the liquid solution that came with it was ineffective. I hope I don't get seriously sick because of the germ!!! Nonetheless, I needed the shofar for the presentation so I pressed on: 1) soaked in a whole box of baking soda and vinegar mix overnight then washed and dried with a hairdryer but this didn't work, so 2) rinsed with mineral spirits and dried with hairdryer, this didn't work either, and so 3) coated the inside with oil-based polyurethane, this time the odor was reduced but not eliminated, finally 4) coated and recoated it with several real thick coats of oil-based polyurethane. This time it did remove the odor completely. It took me a couple days to learn how to sound the shofar. This shofar has a real mysterious, loud and powerful deep sound, like a wounded beast, for real! The first few times I sounded it, we were both silent briefly after it's sounded. I was able to present it and the peoples were pleased, the whole thing was quite an effort though it was worthwhile nonetheless.
