Going to be useful for a long time
Is this the most exciting read? No. Is there lots of math? Yes. Do you have to read and understand it all? Kudos to you if you can, but this isn't that kind of book. This is definitely more of a reference book, and if you treat it that way it's outstanding. While the way the info is formatted can be daunting (at times it's like an old-school math textbook, with references by equation # which may or may not be in the given chapter you're actually reading), if you're willing to take the time w/ highlighter and flags it's invaluable for getting to the meat of problems. Mark this baby up! This one will be on my bookshelf forever.

A bit boring/dry, but the needed material is there.
Did not like this book at first. Still not thrilled with it, but becoming used to it. IMO author assumes an unreasonable amount of reader knowledge on some subjects, such as fans. I had to go out on the Internet and research stuff that should have been covered in the book. There should be more background material in the first few chapters to support the material already present.I also found it extremely disappointing that the author took all of the constants in each formula and made a single constant, without explaining the process or putting the units on the constant. Author never even tries to explain where any of the formulas come from. As a physicist I am used to using the units to give me hints on formula setup and many formulas in this book do not work correctly as far as units go, due to the units missing on the constants. Apparently the reader is also not expected to understand fundamental trigonometry as the book uses simplified constants for the basic trig functions. How can you work with AC power and not understand basic (junior high - high school) trigonometry? That's just asking for trouble.Still, for what it is, it is an effective book.
