affordable carplay
Anna MarkovskyTue, Aug 29, 10:20 PM (10 hours ago)to meI had recently purchased this for my car and I was very pleased with it! I absolutely recommend it for those looking for a standard navigation and carplay screen or a rear camera. It was easy to install and the instructions were quite clear. It comes with a suction cup mount and a monitor base that can be attached to the dashboard. The car play also comes with an aux cable and power cord. There is a rear camera as well (includes night vision). The resolution is great quality in both the camera and the touch screen. The display boots up very quickly and I haven't experienced any issues with the screen freezing or glitching. The brightness is adjustable and is highly visible even in direct sunlight. You can set up carplay or android auto by connecting to your phone through bluetooth. The instruction manual was very clear on explaining the set up process, along with a QR code for a youtube tutorial. The speaker can be a bit quiet at times but overall not an issue. An FM transmitter is also included. Another helpful feature is that you can make phone calls which is very convenient. I also liked the simple but easy to use interface. Overall excellent product and a great budget friendly option.

Need Current Android OS - Very Good Touch Screen
The media could not be loaded. I was unable to connect to my phone because I do not have the required (current) operating system on my phone. They clearly state on the packaging that it requires Android v 8 for some and Android v11 for other things. So many of the features would not work for me. I was able to connect to my phone's Bluetooth and that was very easy and quick. The video shows the very clear and responsive touch screen. I am impressed by the quality. Also, didn’t hook up the rear camera, but the front camera came up automatically as I saw my car's dash behind the carplay. If you have a more current mobile phone, I am sure all the connections will work just fine for you. I was able to set the clock, date and time very easily, so I have no doubt that this feature packed car screen will work for you as long as you have current OS on your phone. There are tons of features not listed here and they all take a certain amount of understanding because the manual is difficult to understand and quite lacking. The company spent lots of time on product development, packaging, hardware and even software, which does look quite well done and thought out, but didn’t spend much on language translation (at least to English), which requires the user to figure it out for himself. All included cables and screen mounting options look top notch. I get a new phone every year, so maybe my next phone will be supported by the system required for this unit.

Good but cheap
If you’re reading this, you’re probably searching for a way to add CarPlay to an older vehicle without shelling out $600 for a new head unit. At least that was my situation. I purchased two different add-on CarPlay units to try. This was the cheaper of the two, but ultimately the one I kept (I returned the other). The unit feels very light and flimsy, compared to other similar units. I like the smaller size (some will want a larger screen). The dashboard stand it comes with is junk. I glued a magnet to the back and have been using magnet mounts in my car.The best aspect of this unit is the Bluetooth-to-car connection, which many others don’t have. It does make a big difference and creates less cable mess.On the second day with this unit, I turned on my car and the unit came on with flashing, changing colors. Perhaps it was because of the cold overnight weather (~ 30 F). I restarted it and it went back to normal. Still, not a good sign of durability…Also, the plastic screen appears to have some damage to it on the corners. It’s not noticeable when driving but is very noticeable when looking up close. That said, it’s a decent unit and an affordable (<$100) way of adding CarPlay to an older car. I have already enjoyed the ease of use and appreciate being able to leave my phone in my pocket!

Great option to update older cars
We installed this in my 2013 Kia Soul, and it works better than I expected. This car has a storage cubby with a hinged lid just above the factory stereo, so we removed the hinged lid and drilled a small hole at the back of the cubby to run the wires down behind console (we hardwired it thanks to help from some YouTube videos). We also used screws on the mounting plate for extra stability. The 7" size fits perfectly and looks as built in as any external CarPlay unit can, I think. The backup camera was also fairly easy to install. The tricky part in hardwiring both the unit and camera was figuring out the correct wires to tap into, but we used a multimeter and so it wasn't too difficult.Note that we ordered two other products for this install from Amazon: a16AWG Car Cigarette Lighter Extension Cable, 20A 250V Fused, Male to Female Socket Plug Lead Cord for 12V 24V Vehicle Power Transformer, and T Type 1 Pin non-stripped wire connecters. We couldn't have done this as easily without them, because there just wasn't enough room to manipulate the console wires. Later, I ordered a 90-degree male to female USB C corner adapter so that the camera cable fit more flush and didn't stick out as much on the side. I do wish the inputs were on the back, but I understand why that wouldn't work for every installation. As for how the unit operates, so far, it's been great! I'm so glad I got one with Dual Bluetooth because it turns out to be a must have for me--with an iPhone I'm able to connect it to both my phone and the car's Bluetooth audio. Once connected, my steering wheel controls work, which I didn't think would be possible, and because it's using my car's microphone my voice sounds clear to people on the other end. It seems that it can only remember one phone at time, the last one it connected to, and will reconnect to it automatically every time. If you want to change which phone is connected, you have to do the initial connection process again, which is fine. The backup camera has a crisp and clear image with a nice wide field of view. Once connected to the reverse light wire, it works seamlessly. In my situation, we did have to drill into the bumper, but that section of my bumper is plastic, so I wasn't worried about it. Also, I use polarized sunglasses and have no issue seeing the screen (I read reviews of other units where this can be a problem). My only complaint so far is that the plastic power button on the right side is loose and rattled quite a bit while driving, which drove me nuts. But a small piece of black electrical tape over it solved that problem and it's barely visible. All in all, this is a great little unit for the price. It allows me to update my car with goodies only available on newer models, retain my steering wheel controls, use my car's Bluetooth audio, and the installation went fairly smooth. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Great for the price with a few buts
The unit is decent and good for the most part, but when using carplay the touchscreen it's not 100% responsive, it's not a big deal, but I expected a better response in that aspect. Sometimes if you change between carplay and other options of the unit the carplay looses responsiveness as well, so you pretty much have to restart the unit for it to work. The audio quality it's ok, but since I have dual bluetooth I just use the car audio directly instead of using the auxiliar or fm functions. The cup mount only sticks to the windshield and it's too short, so it lacks freedom on where to put it in the car, I'd have prefer a cup mount that also sticks in the dashboard as well as a longer arm, but well, for the price again it's hard to complain. The camera it's good enough, like most other cameras fulfills its purpose. And lastly but not less important, the box it came in seemed like an open box to me, because there were different type of bags for the items as well as loosely close, pretty sketchy in that regard. In summary, the unit is not perfect, but for the price I'd say it's worth it, could have been better, but I've also seen way worst for the same price, so I guess you just choose your poison.

Great device
✓ Very well built✓ Screen is clear✓ Many connectivity options✓ Camera is a bonus but didnt use itI've been using it for 2 months now and it works great .Used my car FM transmitter to get the voice output so I get clear sound and can control the volume from my steering wheel. The navigation experience is better now with the big screen. I like the ability to use google assistant and also play internet radio through it.Got it when it was at lower price , It really gives me the essential features without breaking the bank. I highly recommend it.

Android car play
It is perfect. I bought a radio unit which I ended returning as it was poorly designed. This unit is flawless. Rear view camera is also nice and crisp. I had to do some modification to fit the way I wanted to sit in the dash instead of on to of the dash or windshield. It is perfect.

Lamtto R04
Unit functions as intended. Easy hookup. Touch screen works well. Bluetooth calls are very clear. Takes a few seconds to boot up, but nothing crazy. Backup camera image is clear too. Aux cord too short to reach the plug at back of console, but just got a longer one with a right angle plug. Only a few days old but so far impressive. Much cheaper than changing out the stereo. I would buy again based on initial experience.
