Will Buy Again
Bought one to try, will be buying more. Lions main flavor(excellent) tried out of package plain, lots of crumbs and with hot water, made more of a porage meal(recomended) two individualy wraped "biscuits" to a bag, ate both and feel satisfied.

Tastes good but not like mushroom
To me this tastes like a less sweet version of a butter cookie. The strongest flavor is bread/wheat with a very light sweetness. Looking at the ingredient list this makes sense: Wheat, oil, sweetener, mushroom, milk, in that order. It is very dry and crumbly. This extends shelf life of rations but you'll definitely also want drinking water. Again, the flavor is very mild to neutral. I don't even taste mushroom but that's not necessarily a bad thing. If you are buying food rations for emergencies you don't want strong flavors that you might be eating for multiple meals consecutively. Having something very mild and palatable is preferred. My package is dated good until the year 2043. The packaging is vacuum sealed and inside the pouch there are two bars wrapped in shrink plastic wrap. So combined with the low moisture content I would feel comfortable opening the outer packaging and consuming the two bars many days apart. Realistically, I'm not sure why you'd wait since one bar is a fraction of one day's calorie needs. Nutritionally these seem fine. Protein, fat, carbs, and a reasonable amount of salt. The only thing that's a bit weird is the nutrition information is for 5/6 of a bar and there are 2 bars. So if you want to know how much you are actually consuming you have to do some math. Final thoughts: these are sold as packages of two bars. As emergency food you'd need a lot of packages. The standard recommendation is 3 days of food. If you only eat these that's roughly 4 packages per day, per adult. Other emergency ration bars I've purchased either contain at least a single day's food or several days. It seems odd and unnecessary to package these so small but I guess it makes them more versatile as something handy and portable for unexpected day trips.

Great for SHTF if water is not a worry
This is awesome for what it is, two biscuts with a long shelf life. I did not get a strong mushroom taste but it was not bad at all, i feared the taste after trying the scalion ones that did taste like scalion but too much so. It is lite a ritz cracker in taste and pleasent to have. This was very good but i require water to eat all of it. Pros- shelf life, taste, value, nutrition. Cons- the driest thing i have ever eaten. 4 stars and i would buy again just for the taste. I hope this review helps.

Great For Preppers & Hikers Because Emergencies Can Happen
This bar is marketed as an emergency survival ration food and has a crazy long expiration date of 10/05/2043. It feels incredibly dense and would probably need to be busted up or rehydrated some before attempting to eat. It is manufactured in China, so the ingredient's list and nutritional value is different from what we see on USA food labels. It's on the expensive end for only a 4.23oz bar, but if you're starving in an emergency situation, you'll be glad you have it. Overall, I'm pleased with what I received and plan to carry it with me on long hikes - just in case. *Side note: We did get lost in the woods once. We had strayed 11 miles off trail until we could get a phone signal to call for rescue. Now, we are always prepared. *See my video and pics for more product details.

Long shelf life, good variety of nutrient
This is a pretty small package of two bars, something that in retrospect is extremely expensive (currently $7.99 for a single bag of two 120g bars) and not a very good value. The bars do contain a wide variety of nutrients and the shelf life date is good for 20 years, so plenty long for longer term food storage or an emergency kit. One thing I don't like is that the nutritional information on the back is for 100g servings, but each bar is 120g, so you can add 20% of the daily value to each number to get a per bar amount, but it seems ridiculous to just not label it in conjunction with the serving size. I know, first world problems having to do the math, but maybe they just caught me in a mood after realizing how little bar I get for the money.

Mix food ration bars with milk juice or matching water
The emergency food ration bars are a perfect addition to my bug-out survival first-aid bag. It's staying sealed until an emergency. Although the instructions on the package itself could use the same instructions from the item description. Nowhere on the package does it say that the bars need to be mixed with some sort of liquid but on the item description it clearly states to mix with milk, juice, or matching water. Probably a good idea to attach a note to the package adding instructions that are missing in case an emergency arises where no internet access is available to read how to prep food ration bars. Otherwise, I would just think to eat it dry and wonder why it's so crusty... lol. The nutrition information could be more accurate as well since the bars are 120 grams but the nutrition facts are for 100 grams. The package of two energy bars comes in at a weight of about 123.9 grams in case you're putting together a bug-out bag and weighing rations out. Overall, I'm happy to have some sort of emergency food ration that has an expiration date of 2043 for emergencies and it staying sealed until the 1000-year flood hits my location.

Very small, made in China and non returnable.
Very small, pictures on Amazon seem deceiving. Also manufactured in China. Not sure what is exactly in them, but of course, no returns. Haven't opened it, not sure if I will ever use it.

Add these to your Emergency Preparedness Toolkit
One simply has to turn on the news to hear about the latest calamity affecting humankind in the form of climate change, earthquakes and other natural (and man made) disasters. If the recent global crisis taught us anything, it was to no longer scoff at those people known as preppers, but to join them in building a preparedness toolkit so that we're ready when the time comes. The BDH Emergency Food Ration Bars, are yet another entry in my toolkit. With a 20 year long shelf life, these bars (I chose the mushroom flavor), provide a selection of vitamins, protein, and carbs to get you through any emergency situation. I can't comment on taste, because I plan to keep them sealed hoping that I never have to use them. But I'm comforted to have them on hand. These are light enough to store several in a bugout bag, when you need to dash to safety in a hurry. The last thing you need is something heavy weighing you down when you're on the go. The BDH Emergency Food Ration Bars, should be part of everyone's emergency preparedness plan.
